... and I'm a massive ricky hatton fan. Fair play to Ricky coz absolutely no-one has ever managed to beat a proven warrior like Castillo so comprehensively before, but Castillo showed no desire whatsoever. If Castillo had been a few years younger this would've been a war, as it was Castillo bailed before a war could really break out. Castillo had a few rounds in with him, realized what he was up against and took the easy way out. He knew he couldn't hang with a strong aggressive kid like Hatton, he made no attempt to get up, he bailed. Hate to say it for all the wars he's been in but he's done now.

You can't blame Ricky Hatton for that, he wanted to put on a show and you can only beat what you've got in front of you. Castillo was the biggest name and percieved most dangerous fighter in the division, when you consider the other guys out there are Junior Witter, Paulie Malinaggi and Lovermore N'Dou are all pretty shite.

Dont blame Hatton for the clinching, I think Castillo was more than happy to hang on and avoid fighting. Hatton was at least throwing punches, and he was working out of the clinches too nudging Castillo off him and usnig good footwork and angles to get shots off. Castillo just stood right in front of Hatton and clinched, barely throwing anything. Hatton clinches too much but tonight I felt he was trying to put on a show and Castillo just wasn't gonna let it happen.

Hatton needs to go to 147lbs I think a fight with Miguel Cotto would be a superb spectacle where you'd really see Ricky push himself, tought one I slightly favour Cotto but its very close. I think he'd give Floyd Mayweather a harder fight than most could although I can't see him winning. I think he could give Shane Mosley trouble coz Shane needs lots of room to get those fast shots off and Hatton crowds people, its crude but effective just look at Roberto Duran, and I think that style could be tricky for Mosley. I'd pick him over Margarito and Zab Judah in a heartbeat. It'd be hard for him coz he's such a short guy, I dont think he's a natural welterweight at all, but he's a class above more or less everyone at 140lbs right now and welter is where all the big fights are.

Finally dont let the haters get ya down, Ricky Hatton is STILL the man. His footwork is excellent, his handspeed is great, he has awesome body-punching power, great physical strength for walking people down and smothering them, a fucking solid chin and bags of heart. Thats enough to give anyone at 140/147lbs a lot of trouble, and these things cannot be denied. Oh and he's a lovely bloke too.

Hatton deserves alot of credit for the win - he beat him in VERY convincingly and one-sided fashion, even more impressively than I thought he would.

This said, it was pretty obvious to those who were not rapidly anti-Hatton that Castillo was not what he was BEFORE the fight. I frankly expected this fight to be very one-sided precisely because Castillo was on the downside. However, Hatton won even more decisively than I imagined, and for that he deserves credit.

Castillo was not shot...he's no spring chicken either but he was never as quick as Hatton anyway...and why is everyone 'shot' after fighting Hatton? the same thing was said after Hatton beat Tszyu, and Tszyu had just blew away a still-good Sharmba Mitchell in 3 damn rds...the answer is Hatton makes people look shot because of his molestation tactics in the ring...take that shit to Michael Jackson's bedroom, not to the ring...

I expected him to win over the fading Castillo, with his style and size.

Now, he should go up against the prime beasts of 147. Cotto, Cintron, Margarito, Clottey.

That would be more interesting than this fight.

Spot on, and he didn't look old or anything else, he looked ready to handle Hatton in round three, following two rounds of pressure, he looked ready.

I predicted a KO for Hatton but after 3 I was wondering. Great performance v a great fighter that got hit with a horrible body shot.

That was the same spot where DLH was hit by Hopkins. Castillo took it a bit better than DLH though but he couldnt continue.

He didn't look shot to me, just old. He also looked like he could've goten up from the body shot but decided to fuck it and just stay down. Older fighters in his situation often react the same way to a knockdown once they know there's no hope for them to win.

He might still be able to compete with some guys at 140 but he'll never be able to compete at the elite level again. So why go on? I tink he should just call it quits unless he's having financial problems from the Corrales weight incident.

Joe Cortez took away any hope Castillo had of winning the fight when he kept getting on his ass about lowblows that weren't low...Castillo's only chance in this fight was to break Hatton to the body, and he started to do that in the 3rd and hurt Hatton in the 4th with a clean bodyshot that was called low...Cortez penalized Castillo for the very area he said was legal to be hit, Hatton's beltline...

at this point in their respective careers, i'd have to take hatton over vicious. undoubtedly this would be followed by the claim that vicious was finished etc

Castillo didnt look exactly shot to me but he did look smaller and slower then Hatton right off the bat. one thing for sure is that he is def past his better years and weight class.

after seeing that, Hatton won just as he should have and i still say that he has a long way to go to be considered on an elite level like Mayweather, Mosley, or even on Cottos level.
