View Full Version : Macklin & Barker vs the rest of the Euro's
The winner of Macklin vs Barker will probably end up getting a Euro title shot which is at the moment Gevor.
How do you think Macklin and Barker go against these:
Gevor
Asikainen
Sylvester

ive only seen asikainen out of that lot and i reckon both these boys could beat him and macklin could stop him imo.is gevor still euro champ or did he give it up for the shot at sturm?
going by their website the title is vacant with Sylvester and Asikainen fighting for it.

Tough one. Haven't seen enough of Barker to comment. If Macklin wins their fight I'd see him being very evenly matched with Gevor in what would probably be a great scrap, I think I'd have to give the nod to Gevor though.
As for Sylvester and Aisikanen, Macklin would be the favourite IMO. Based on their performances against each other and their commen opponents in Furlan and Campos.
I see Gevor as his toughest fight it would be a very good fight but not sure what way it would go.
I think he could probably take Aisikanen but Sylvester is a tougher test.
Looking forward to Macklin stepping up anyway plenty of good fights there for him and Barker

I think they could both beat Asikainen. Asikainen is a little bit stiff, and a little soft centered and not really all that skilled. Only he can hit hard with both hands, so he would be dangerous initially.
Sylvester is a very good boxer. Nice handspeed, excellent jab. His stamina is somewhat poor, it can be exposed later in the fight and lead to him being stopped. He doesn't always 'do enough'. I would favour Barker over him due to styles. Barker is a very good boxer, and his footwork is really sharp whereas Sylvester is mostly rooted to one spot. Macklin I have a little more trouble quantifying because although he's changed his style from brawler to boxer, I don't know quite how comfortable he is doing that at this level against another excellent boxer. He might revert to type. It could still be enough, perhaps.
Gevor is a very tough match for either, and I expect we'll see that when he faces Sturm. He is a pressure fighter, very short and squat, good bodypuncher and a pretty high output. Can be outboxed for periods, but his strength is his durability and aggressive style. Barker has been down heavily in the past, he has question marks over his chin so I couldn't put him at better than 50/50. I'd favour Gevor over Macklin as I fear he'd force Macklin to revert to the Macklin that fought Moore, and Gevor has done that at a higher level.
Cheers TFFP
I think Macklin would probably take Sylvester & Asikainen but i think Gevor would probably beat mack.
Barker would have a better chance vs Gevor but probably get beat. Also I think sylvester would beat him and Barker beats Asikainen
I think the three Irish Middleweights Macklin,Duddy and Lee would all beat both Barker and most of the European fighters but i think only Macklin would have a chance beat Gevor.

Mackling sucks. Sylvester, Wide UD, Asikainen KO, Gevor late stoppage or UD.
He is good british level, thats it.
