Who wins this brawl? for Jersey, I think Tony wins by TKO he would maul Wepner elbows head butts cutting Wepner forcing a stoppage.

Gallento was in a diferent class to Wepner.
Notwithstanding his training habits he actualy has a prety good resume.

Forgetting about his training habits changes his resume?
At any rate, Galento by a mile.

I mean that despite his training habbits he actualy has some good names on his resume. The stories behind some of his top fights are interesting too. He was basicaly seen as a stepping stone for Lery Haynes and Lou Nova.
Honestly you have to ask what he might have done if he had got his prodigeous but into shape.

Galento was as durable as Wepner ,but carried much heavier artillery ,plus he was adept at fouling and cutting a man ,[read about his fight with Nova].
" Two Ton" would have Wepner bleeding like a stuck pig inside 5 rds, the referee would have to stop it.

Galento on a TKO due to cuts is the most likely result in my opinion. The cut probably wouldn't be caused by a punch.

It was reported that Liston dropped Wepner with a hook to the body. If Sonny could do this, then Galento might have been able to as well. Because of the extreme height disparity, I don't think butting would be a likely factor in this one. Tony's corner would probably instruct him to get low and hammer away with the hook downstairs, something Chuck wouldn't have an answer for, except for rabbit punches. He'd have to absorb a good deal of low blows from Two-Ton in exchange for this.
The only question in my mind is whether or not Wepner gets to the final bell. Even if he manages to remain unmarked, I don't believe he does. Too many hard hooks would leave him too depleted to reach the final bell.

Galento used the laces and thumbs as well as low blows ,he had Nova wearing an eye patch for weeks after their brawl,Nova was in danger of having permanent eye damage.

You can actually find this on youtube. I just saw it a few weeks ago. I can't remember if that was the type of punch but I do remember Liston did put Wepner down on a body shot, though he claims the only time he was knocked off his feet was Ali. Total BS. The youtube fight is not posted in full. I sat and watched through the fight with no sound and not the best footage with the thought it was, but they cut out the last round for no apparent reason. If I could remember the round this happens, I'd tell you but I can't.

Galento can actually land hard punches as opposed to the ugly mauling style that Wepner has. Wepner bleeds his way outta the match.

I don't think that either Chuck Wepner nor Tony Galento were bums. They actually went through phases in their careers where they were pretty good fighters. At anyrate, I pick Galento to knockout Wepner. Might be a competitve fight for the first few rounds, but I think Tony hit too hard, and probably had better skills as well.

I haven't seen that movie in probably 20 years, but it was a classic. My high school composition teacher had us watch it in class, then write a report on it.. Marlon Brando was execellent in it. Very good film.

Galento was a much better fighter than Wepner and Tony had a punch, Tony beat a lot of the murderers row Black Heavyweights of the era and was no Bum. I seen Wepner fight live many times and I must say he was slow, had no power,Bleed worse than Enry Cooper but was a tough taker......Galento was a much better fighter and classes higher

there was no quit in wepner when he fancied it. galento was genuinly one of the best heavyweights of his era and extremly dangerous against anyone even within the rules. Tony was a real serious threat. wepner was a tough second tier guy who could barely "hold his own" if he stepped up. great characters but difrent levels.
