Cotto has superstar writing all over him.
"Paul Williams has the potential
And I dont see it happening but if Pavlik wins in convincing fashion, he will be the next American boxing superstar. Trust me

Do you mean in America?

Cause Pacman is already taking care of business in his neck of the woods.

I think Guys like Klitschko, Hatton, Pacquiao are already superstars in their countries but not in america, cause they ain't american.
Cotto is on his way to become a superstar, but again mostly in puerto rico.

In america?? i don't know it seems that boxing has no appeal anymore overthere. otherwise floyd would be a star, Dawson would become one, maybe Pavlik, Taylor Andre Berto.

JCC jr. will be a star in mexico, no doubt.

Tyson just might have been the last boxer to have that kind of quality

I think Cotto & Berto have the talent and backing (HBO) to be hugh internationally.

Even the guys Kandis is entertaining - they're calling him the next Gatti.

That's part of the reason why he could be the next superstar. He's going to most likely win big or lose big, you're near guaranteed excitement. The fact that he's fought his way to mandatory position and got his shot the old fashioned way in such a small number of fights is a positive thing too. He may be green, but at least he's willing to test himself and risk losing rather than playing it safe for a long time as has been the case for a lot of British fighters.

There's a reason Frank ****** doesn't like Haye and I suspect it's because he's showing people that you don't have to go the '****** way' to become a succesful fighter over here. I hope more people follow his lead to be honest.

How much dose personality matter?

None of these fighters mentioned have the personality or charisma to transcend the Sport like Ali,Tyson etc .They are all potential superstars but i dont think they have the qualities to become household names among non-boxing fans

Cotto
Dawson..I think he easily has the talent and skill to become a ATG and can dominate that divison for a long time
Jorge Linares..I only saw his fight against Larios but fuck!! he's only 21 with less than 25 fights, has been fighting exclusively in Tokyo and totally DESTROYED Larios. He should be taken serious, very, very very serious.

I think Sam Peter has a chance of being the next star on the heavywieght division especially if he can win against Maskaev and then beat Wlad or Vitali.
