Nice to see Tua is stayng busy and trying to keep his weight in check. Said he weighed in at 234 which is good for him. I hope he gets his title shot soon. Rahman is at 250 is showing how nonserious he is about his career.

Yeah - staying busy is nice - but the level of his competition is garbage. This guy he's fighting is 8-5. Fighting like this - I'm still surprised his name is being brought up as a possible opponent for Wlad.

Looking at it another way, Rahman is 11 pounds lighter than he was for his fight with Sykes in June.

Rahman had said that he had come down from 300+ pounds for the Sykes fight. Ridiculous.
I wish I could make it to the Eagle tonight but work will get in the way (Sigh)

DVR - VCR - TiVo - do what you have to - but the bills come first.
I don't suppose these are available to watch anywhere? even online?
Tua and Rahman ought to fight each other; taking on a guy who's 8-5 is just ridiculous for someone of Tua's supposed calibre, and Rahman's opponent is much more respectable, having beaten Brian Nielsen (8 years ago), and lost to Valuev, Vitali Klitschko, Buster Douglas, and Shannon Briggs. I think Tua would be perhaps more eligible for a title shot if he didn't take this fight!

A couple of set-up fights for these guys. Maybe, since they're fighting on the same card, they are angling toward matching them together soon.

I think it would be interesting! I think it should be made for late Oktober if both men have an easy work with their opponents tonight.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if he lost a decision to this guy? That could clear the way for Wlad to fight Chagaev to unify.

You're right, Steve O, that is ridiculous. I've often said that with the heavyweight division the way it is right now, anyone with a name and any skill should stay in at least decent shape at all times. You never know when an opportunity might come up.

I'd watch it if it were on. If it was in the area, I'd probably buy a ticket and go see it.

I hope Rahman loses his fight tonite, the fight against Sykes was not worth watching at all. Sykes was a same guy that was killed by Peter rather easy, Rahman I think even got a little rocked in his fight against Sykes he should honestly consider retirement.

You are right about the Sykes/Rahman fight. I was in the crowd for that one and it was terrible. I would say that if Rahman is going to show no more motivation than that he should retire, but if he gets in shape and puts some more effort into it, he could get another nice payday or two.

Sorry to hear you payed for that, yeah I was happy to Rahman back in the ring again until I seen the fight. The 2 things that kept me watching it on spike tv was the fact at one point it looked as if Sykes might knock him out, the other was the commentating on spike which was practically making fun of the fight the whole time, I laughed a couple times through the match at what they were saying. One of the guys commentating was as negative as Larry Merchant on a bad day.

Cerrone Fox is 8-5 with 3 KO's. What self-respecting boxing commission allowed this fight to take place? This is a horrible, horrible mismatch. This is how people get killed.

The sad part of the story is Rahman or Tua could knock that glass jawed klitchko out. Why not throw Joe Mesi and Tommy Morrisson in there too?

I was in Rochester visiting a girlfriend that week so it the trip wasn't a total loss, but yeah, that fight was a big disappointment after paying good money for tickets. The undercard fight with Kid Diamond and Huerta was a good scrap, but the decision in that one was horrible.
I am glad to hear that the announcers were critical of that poor performance. My girlfriend, who went to the fight with me, asked me at one point, "Are you sure this Rahman guy used to be the champion?"

I agree. He's not too old for a heavyweight and he certainly can be effective against a lot of guys when at the top of his game. He's bounced back from KO's losses before, so maybe he can do it again. I actually think that if he and Tua meet and both are in shape, Rahman wins a decision.

I believe there last meeting was a draw the last time they fought, I think Tua wins this time on pure power alone. Rahman has a long way to go after seeing what he did in his last fight against Sykes.

I see your point, but I wasn't crazy about some of Tua's recent performances. He looked good against Montana, but Montana is an old fat guy with 14 losses coming in. He's worse than Sykes. I actually thought Rahman won his second fight with Tua, and I think if he gets in shape and focused he can win a decsion. Of course, Tua's power could always make things like conditioning and focus irrelevant if he catches the Rock and we know the Rock can be caught with a big blow.

Tua whos not overall a great fighter, but he does possess A type punch which if Rahmans comes in like he did against Sykes I see an easy 1st or 2nd round knockout.

No doubt if Rahman comes in like he did against Sykes in a fight with Tua, the Tuaman will knock him out. To win this fight Rahman would have to be in good condition and continue to pop that jab out while moving. If not, he would be in trouble. If Oleg could knock him out of the ring, Tua could kill him.

Tuas' one punch ko ability will never go away, even if he doesnt come in at top shape he will always have that to sort of rely on in a sense. The one punch ko power is good when your blowing threw D and C fighters but rarely works when it comes time to fight the elite, as he discovered when he fought Lewis in 2000.

I watched the Rahman/Sykes fight, too. It was horrible. There were a few moments when Hasim looked weary, and it would have been sad but sort of fitting for him to get sparked.
He is finished for sure, and Tua probably is too. The division needs to clear out these washed up guys, just so some of the coveted TV slots open up for the good international HWs.

While I believe Rahmans is pretty much finished, I do feel Tua can win some fights with his awesome one punch power alone not sure if that will be enough to win against a guy like Wlad.

His power certainly remains formidable, but I just don't sense the purpose and determination to get to the top. Look at his fights and demeanor versus that of Oliver McCall. I think Oliver deserves to be taken more seriously than Tua, at least for now.

Now fighters get shots at the title if they have a name like golota who hasnt had a good tough fight since Bryd in 04, and will probably get another chance at the title after he beats Mcbride.

rahman might have a shaky chin but the power he has is great for a man of his size and wieght I agree that Rahman does have some power but lacks in the skill department at least lately. I was reading that Rahman has some of the biggest hands for a Heavywieght champion, supposedly bigger fists than Sonny Liston which is pretty scary when you think about it. I dont know Im not a big fan of Rahman but I guess he capable of winning another belt if keeps in shape and does a little more cardio.
