If these men all fought in the same era & were in their prime at the same time, which order would they be regarded while at their absolute peak ?
Wilfredo Gomez @ 122
Alexis Arguello @ 130
Pernell Whitaker @ 135
Roy Jones @ 168
(Hard aint it ? :D)

Whitaker
Jones
Gomez
Arguello
But Gomez for me is possibly better than Jones, i really don't know, it's subjective.

Everyone will have a different combination but if pushed, i'd go with ..
1. Pernell Whitaker
2. Roy Jones
3. Wilfredo Gomez
4. Alexis Arguello
Its too hard to seperate Jones from Pernell .. If Jones had operated in a more competitive division, i'd have him ahead of Pernell because i think his natural talent edges Pernell ..
Gomez and Arguello were 2 great fighters in they're own right but as boxers i cant compare them to Whitaker and Jones..
This is a very difficult question because im a huge fan of all 4 guys ..

With Wilfredo Gomez rated on the basis of his form in the 70's up to the Sanchez fight,,,strictly based on the form he showed during that period when he was at his peak, I'd say just in the order you have them there..exactly.

At their best:
1. Gomez
2. Whitaker
3. Jones
4. Arguello
All great at these weights difficult to do. My list may change later.

Very very difficult to answer, i fell arguello is a little behind the other 3. Jones looked like superman at 168 and if he had stayed there longer and continued to look as brilliant and beat the top names i'd have him at 1 but he didn't so i'll take him in 3. I rate whitaker slightly higher than gomez skills wise so i suppose i'd rank it
Whitaker
Gomez
Jones
Arguello
But i'm not really happy about that and if you ask me tomorrow i may have changed my mind

why is arguello being ranked so low his resume is better than Gomezs and i would say ability wise he is better

His resume is clearly better (though if you take gomez 122 resume against arguello just at 130 its close).
However i think gomez is a more complete fighter at his absolute prime, he could do almost everything, massive power, brilliant footwork, great skills etc. Its close as arguello ws great himself but i fell he could be outboxed by someone with good movement and boxing skills, i'd fell comfortbale with picking mayweather to beat him at 130 for instance. Gomez prime was very short but when he was there he was unbelivable.
Arguello ranks higher for his career achievments

Yeah GP, i think the question is who would be ranked higher p4p if they were all in the same era at a given point in their primes.
But it's so tight you could re-arrange them a lot.

sorry misread ttile but i think they would all be in contention for P4P number 1 as long they didnt fight each other

His resume is better than all of them. His limitations as a fighter were more glaring, though.

brillaint little one liner Sweet Pea but i think Arguellos limits where shown but he could adapt and it was very hard to take advantage of these weaknesses though

Why would it be hard? Roy was fighter of the 90s, Pernell wasnt. Roy wins hands down because he was fighter of the 90s and beyond.
next is Arguello and who made an impact on the sport all the way from the early 70s until he met his match in Aaron Pryor. Actually, I believe Alexis has the greatest of achievements but Roy was unbeatn for so many years, he had that George Foreman/Thomas Hearns aura of invincibility.
Next is Pernell and last is Gomez for being thrashed in the Sanchez fight.

1st - Whitaker
2nd - Gomez
2nd = Jones
4th - Arguello
However, I think Jones is the only one who would definitely defeat anyone who ever fought at that weight (Gomez may very well have beaten anyone who ever fought at 122, but I cannot say he definitely would have with the same certainty that I personally apply to Jones at 168).

if you base it on factors like level of comp, number of title defenses and the overall ability that they have in cleaning up each of their respective div
