I said this all along. I was worried Junior was well past it, but it appears not. Hatton will continue to duck him. Witer is the man at 140, fuck cherrypicker Hatton, he will be exposed BADLY this winter.

This must be a wind up surely?
So let me get this right, Hatton has fought Castillo, Tszyu and is now fighting Mayweather (the best boxer in the world) but he's ducking Junior Witter? Haha, yeah whatever you say lid, whatever you say.

Mayweather is not and will kick Hatton's ass. Witter would knock him out too....but he's shamelessly ducked him for years.

No he wouldn't.
Witter is susceptible to two things...slick boxers and high octane pressure fighters.
Witter has a great punch and a great chin; he has no stamina and a poor workrate with a wide sloppy style.
Hatton can take a punch and he does not allow room, plus he targets the body and never stops.
Witter would be mauled by Hatton. He would have to land a KO and frankly Hatton is unlikely to be KOd with one shot, he tooks punches from Tsyzu and he knows how to cover up and survive.
Witter would be getting ripped into and as the fight drew on he would be more and more ragged and open, more sloppy and the workrate reduced to single shots.
It amazes me that anyone would pick him to win based on his punch alone. I knew he would KO Harris and I am confident he would KO pretty much anyone in the division.
He loses to the following:
PBF
Hatton
Malignaggi
Funnily enough I give him a better shot at beating Cotto than beating the lesser fighters in Hatton and Paulie. Styles and all that.

Hatton's good but his career and his style Is overrated a little.

Witter's performance against Harris got the job done in style, but it would not have been good enough against Hatton. I thought he was a bit reckless and stuck his chin out to dry too much. Witter's reflexes let him down a few times and he got caught a bit too much.
Witter should be commended for the way he fought, it was the best I've seen him, but Harris looked like a spent force, in my opinion. He didn't have the stamina to go 12 rounds, but seemed to lose heart long before things got tough.

He got caught by an opponent who was 5ft 11" with a big reach advance, big deal. Did Harris Rock, shake or look like beating witter at all? NO. Did Witter put on a good display and knock out a highly ranked world champion, YES.
Witter should be number 2 in the world at the moment, when Hatton moves up he should be number 1.

How so? Harris was a slick box puncher with a long reach a spiteful right hand and a decent rapier jab. Witter owned him.To my knowledge iv never seen Witter fight ANY high pressure style fighter let alone come close to loosing to one so i fail to see your logic. As for his stamina i simply dont believe the hype.Witter has never shown to be gassed in the later rounds and his conservative punching style is merely indicative of the type of fighter that he is. Put him in the ring with ANY high profile fighter and he raises his game. His fought down a level for too long due to FW and a bad career path but EVERY time his been thrown to the lions his come up trumps even a young Judah attested to this. Dont sleep on Witter.A fight with Hatton stylistically is a nightmare for Ricky. If this fight was easy money and an easy win he would have fought him yonks ago.

Well I will explain my logic. He gassed against Lynes and looked like shit. He was easily beating N'Dou and then started to gas and was eating shots all night and ended up winning a far closer fight than should have been the case. Granted if he hadn't bust his hand he probably would have stopped N'Dou in the 5th or 6th, but he gassed plain and simple.
Lynes made him look awful and simply applied pressure.
Harris is not particularly slick. I said Witter would starch him and do so easily, I in fact predicted a 4th round KO...and I wasn't that far off. Harris is a decent puncher and a decent boxer, but nothing special. Witter has a solid chin and Harris is quite open when he attacks and susceptible to power.
I went to watch him win the title off Corley and he did not raise his game at all, he fought crap. The difference was that Corley didn't even fight, so the lesser of two awful performances meant Witter won. He had one good round in the fight and the rest was a total stinker.
Hatton is a nightmare for Witter. Up on his chest where he cant land the big shots easily...constant pressure, attacking the body and able to take single power shots pretty well and recuperate.
I would give Witter a decent shot at pretty much anyone, but Malignaggi is a nightmare too....very slick, good chin and wont come to fight, but come to steal rounds with much higher output and smart boxing.

Witter does better with more counter opportunities. Look how he easily landed on Harris and Ndou he may land even more on Hatton because of more opportunities. Witter is at his best when a fight brings it to him.
He gassed against Ndou but hadnt gone past 5 in years, hes more experienced now.
Hatton eats south paw right hooks, which is a weakness Witter can exploit
Witter has looked poor against Kotelnik/Corley but he won clearly and if his opponent doesnt try to make a fight he won't look good with his style.
Witter looked magnificent against Harris - P4P Quality

Witter would have lots of countering opportunities against Hatton, if he were to exploit them all then he would throw so many punches that he wouldn't be able to keep the pace up and would gas late making him more succeptable to a KO.

Witter did gas against Kotelnik and Lynes but he seems to have better stamina now being more motivated.
Witter switching to southpaw, counter punching and timing Hatton will give Ricky nightmares.
I still remember how lucky he got against Callazo's southpaw counter punching and when he timed Ricky coming forward. You don't even have to hit Hatton hard If you time him right. He won that fight no doubt though.
Hatton's pressure style badly lacks defence, he just dives In and uses roughousing tatics with some body punching. He's very wide open for a timed counter as he dives In.

lmao "witter would be mauled by hatton" - yeah right get real, witter is a counter puncher, south paw. Something hatton has had serious trouble against and trouble against those sorts who are not in witters league.
Witter isnt ducking the fight hatton is and he will be seriously handed his arse when he fights mayweather.
Yup, Witter beats the mentally fragile Harris and Malignaggi beats an average but limited fighter in N'dou so both will be able to beat Hatton. I mean Hatton what's Hatton done at 140lbs? Hatton's fights are boring as hell too unlike Witter's fight against Corley.

Witter fans think that Hatton will stand there like a nodding dog while Witter dangles his left hand in front of his face like a sausage their having a laugh. Witters defence gets caught out occasionally and he still looks uncomfortable and slightly panic stricken when under pressure. I really hope the fight happens after mayweather.

Not really funny. Witter has a couple of really good wins, Hatton has little more. He spent years fighting turkeys at the MEN with Witter pushing for the fight. Hatton's excuses changed....'he needs a major belt', 'he doesn't deserve a fight with me', etc.....but it didn't wash then and it certainly does not now.
as for boring fights, yes Witter has been involved in a couple...but so has Hatton, don't deny that. Personally i'd rather watch Witter fight than watch Hatton bore in trying to land anything from punched to elbows, that's just me though.
you sound like Wicky himself with all this bullshit.....sport is about finding out who is the best and if the fight does not happen we will never know, thanks to ducker Hatton.

Calling Hatton a 'ducker' rings pretty hollow when you consider who he won his title off and who his next opponent is.
Both P4P Top 3s at the time of Hatton fighting them.

honestly, why do you think Hatton-Witter has never happened? I see Hatton's bore forward stlye playing right into the hands of the thudding counter-punching of Witter. The style match-up is interesting as a solid case for it being in Hatton's favour can be made also, I agree.
I pick Witter by KO though.

In my view I have always felt that Witter could do Hatton from way back however I don't believe those who have handled Ricky's career have ever been that keen on the match up. This is very similar to Benn versus Eubank. Ultimately I think the guys to beat Witter is a skilled boxer puncher who is quicker than him. The performance against Harris was outstanding. Witter does and has always had some technical deficiencies but I don't think Hatton has the right style to take advantage of this. Please no more excuses let the match ber made after PBF defeats Hatton.

Depends which Witter turns up, at his absolute best he can be a nightmare for Hatton. If he's on top of his game, he can counter Ricky with big shots, as Hatton takes the fight to him. I think Witter far prefers it when the fighter comes to him, he can counter with his fast poweful punches coming from awkward angles.
Hatton will do his homework and it should be an interesting fight, Witter on top form can make it very interesting, he'll catch Ricky with big bombs, will the hitman be able to absorb them?
lol Sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit but when used correctly :yep ...... I like Witter and am chuffed to bits he has established himself as the Number one contender for Hattons real title however If

I know sarcasm is the lowest form of wit but its also the highest form of intelligence in you continue the quotation. I'm just starting to get tired of people saying oh a slick boxer will beat Hatton, Hattons ducking him. I don't even like Hatton and its evident from my posts but I'll take him over Witter any day. Witter talked crap for ages and Hatton has said many times that he'll let Witter bask in obscurity for that and because Witter's too happy to run like against Judah or bore like against Corley.
Does anyone remember the round in Witter-Corley where both stood still for at least 20 seconds waiting to counter.

Hatton vs Witter is an intriguing bout. Would be nice for us fans it happens sooner, rather than later, but I suspect if anything prevails, it will the latter.
Witter's performance against Harris was solid. He was in control & didn't become discouraged when Harris showed resitance. The left hook that effectively endec the fight was a nice shot. Witter hits hard, harder punch-for-punch than Hatton in my opinion.
However, Hatton would put Witter under immense pressure & Witter would be very uncomfortable with that. Whilst I felt he paced himself well against Harris, Witter may not be given such luxury against Ricky.
For British boxing, I hope the fight happens. It's one I'd love to go to watch live! If Hatton loses to Mayweather, then the fight's nearer to hapening, if he wins, then I expect to see Hatton vs De La Hoya, May 3, 2008.

I pick Witter by KO though. I think the fight has never taken place purely because Witter IS dangerous and he ISN'T well known- should Hatton lose to Mayweather then really there is no reason why the match shouldn't take place. Witter is better known these days and though I think he is def world class I think Hatton would swarm him. I don't think FW was ever keen for the match he could have easily matched Witter with Magee a few years ago and instantly a impressive Witter victory would have sold the fight to the public and on the other hand a Magee win gets him out of the picture. I like Witter and Hatton and I hope they get it on!!

Change the record idiot. If Hatton beat him you'd say Witter was 34/35 and past it and come up with a new contender you've 'been saying all along will expose Hatton'.
Would Witter have beaten these well past it chumps? Not once in ten fights with either of them, or Hatton himself. If Witter fought ten fights now against Hatton, Tszyu and Castillo he'd lose all thirty. The cunt is not in the same class, it really is that simple.

Calling Hatton a cherry picker is the most ridiculous statement I've heard in ages!!! Assuming the PBF fight goes ahead as planned, that will be three p4p fighters and modern greats in the space of 30 months. Not to mention the fact that even the "in between" bouts were against title holders and top ten guys in their respective weight classes! If that''s a "cherry picker" then there aren't very many in boxing who aren't, cause I seriously would struggle to come up with half a dozen fighters who have a better last six fight streak of opposition. Hopkins, Winky, maybe DLH, maybe Israel Vazquez, I am struggling after that.
