Hi all, iv been boxing for a few months now. Now my power and technique has improved my hands are really starting to take a battering. I take my time wrapping them with 3.5 m lonsdale handwraps. Which have worked great till now. I think i wrap them fairly well but i always end up with a sore wrist at some point in training even when im hitting prefectly clean The guy i work with is very experienced and suggested using duck tape and taping my handwraps ( im guessing to keep them in place). Do you think this will work better. iv just Received my cleto reyes hand wraps iv bought today and thought these would be better and longer. However even just wrapping the way i always do they feel far worse then the lonsdale ones (these have 0 give in them). I know theres nothing wrong with the wraps obviously so any suggestions on how i should wrap (links ect) how i should tape them up. And any advice at all really. Its not like im boxing everyday all day either and one day if i am going to do that i dont want my hands to be a problem. Sorry thats very long winded piece of text. Any help much appreciated:D

Id try the duck tape. Ive never tried it myself but im around fighter daily and I know alot of guys who use it especially the boxers at my gym they say it works great. Id give it a shot and see how it works.

Kool thanks for the reply grabed some duct tape today ill have a play. I assume you tear small strips off to just secure the wraps in place. Any tips on how to tape up appreciated

as your power output improves with each passing week you have to give some time for your hands to adjust to the stresses you are putting them through. I used a squeeze ball to strengthen and build up the muscles that support the joints that are being pounded.

Make sure u tape your hands using the X method. There is a clip on you tube that is excellent but i dont know how to put up the link so just type in "boxing hand wraps" and u should find it. There are plenty to choose from but the ones that dont use the X method are a waste of time and next to useless.

When i say "X" i mean when u make a fist the wraps will cross your hand from corner to corner if you get my drift. Harder to explain than to do but the wraps will be put on and form an X ....

You aint fecking kidding! I do feel like the guy with all the gear and no idea in our gym haha. Nah its good i figured spend the money on decent gloves and handwraps once to look after your hands! Just wish there was a step by step or advice video on how to use duct tape as well as just wrapping iv had a look on U-tube but cant find any that use the tape as well

ok type in boxing handwraps and go to page 3 and look for this one
Gleasons Boxing Gym London - Handwraps the professional way

They use standard gym bandage wraps..... You can substitute it for any type of strapping tape instead though. Personally i dont see how duct tape will help fix or prevent any hand problems but all the best with whatever helps you.
