Was a well deserved win for Simpson and proved any doubters wrong.
Looking forward to a Matthews rematch!

Was worried for Morris - he was nearly out cold in the 7th and its never good to see medics in the ring. A huge setback for him - rumour has it he may now move upto Super Featherweight.

yeah i always thought from the start hes one hell of a size n always struggled really to get to 9 stone but if he moves up dus that not mean bigger n stronger punches from bigger weights ?? he couldnt take johns so really is he headin back to the buildin site ??

Think your brother gained a lot of supporters and Matthews lost a lot of boxing fans during that fight.

Keep us posted about Nicky Cooke and the European Title - will be rooting for John of course!

Very impressive, thought I haven't seen it.

I didn't think he could win and would like to see how he did.

I miss everything from training to posting on here to playing with my lad and once I am free from the place and back home I'll explain exactly why I found it an inappropriate career choice.

i really like John Simpson he keeps getting robbed but i think he has come good his power was surprising last night

i can see him moving up and maybe being world level oneday hes only 24 now so hes got about 8-10 years left in him

Simpson is now officially the man. I thought he was robbed against Matthews (some of the judges didn't even take a point of Matthews for the knockdown, and had him ridiculously winning every round) and if he fought Matthews again he could knock him out.

It's a shame that, for marketing reasons, Matthews is pushed and coddled by ******, while warriors like Simpson have to struggle and fight every inch of the way.

Just watched the Simpson- Morris fight. Simpson was fantastic he looked strong as fuck!!! I think Morris has gone back a bit though but that was an excellent performance- Morris' beard is slightly questionable Carl Allen nearly Ko'd him and floored him twice just after he'd fought me and Danny Thorpe also dropped him and badly hurt him but it wasn't counted..... On another note spare a thought for Mr Shannon in the corner, his boxer has just lost and in recent years I'm sure i read he had lost his son and wife. If thats the case then that is a very courageous man who keeps the boxing game in the manchester area in very good shape.

Time for a Simpson-Matthews rematch and a ref who will dock points.

****** already struck Simpson permanently off the list of potential opponents for Matthews. I'm sure he's now erased the name altogether.

What makes you say this?

What makes you say this?

Even if Matthews beats Simpson without a pre-written decision, he'll still look awful in doing it. A dangerous fighter who can at least make his boy look like a wind-up toy is not the kind of opponent ****** puts his commercially regional heavyweight prospects against, at least not until they've shown world class talent. Dirty Derry has not shown world class talent; even his domestic level performances have been questionable.
