View Full Version : "Amir is a Great fighter to come back from a K.O and win a title" Naz
“What makes Amir great is that he's come back from a knockout to do this. Not many fighters can come back from a knockout like that and that was a bad knockout," stressed Naz. “But now look, the man came back, he beat Marco Antonio Barrera. He beat the only guy who beat Prince Naseem - that alone is fantastic - and now he is world champion. The country has a new world champion and one to be proud of. He's the real deal and his name's not Evander Holyfield!”
“Amir's a great fighter and he's got mad hand speed,” claims Naz. “He's got crazy hand speed, hand speed not a lot of fighters have got, but can I see a bit of me in him? I don't know. I was super great. I was special. Amir Khan is Amir Khan. He's a great fighter, he's got great attributes. But Prince Naseem brought something completely different to any other fighter in the whole world."
However, despite all of this praise Naseem is convinced that the last thing the UK needs is a Khan-Hatton showdown. “I don't really know if Amir needs that to be honest,” he claimed. “He's got a legacy of his own to forge and maybe his next thought will be to move up a weight and win more world titles. I don't see much in that fight, you know. Ricky's had a fantastic career, doing what he's done.” said Naz
There is a huge picture of Hamed on the wall at Khan's gym in Bolton.
Hamed said: "If I was him, I'd have a picture of me up too because I'm a great inspiration.
"Amir Khan is Amir Khan. He's a great fighter but Prince Naseem brought something completely different to any other fighter in the whole world.
"I still look back at the early 1990s and think 'Boy, that confidence just came out in me - and it was fantastic.

Naz is brilliant. Why doesn't he do TV work? That's an idea for the new Sky panel: Naz, Eubank and Gomez.

Because, rightly or wrongly, most people think he's a prick.

So Sky have the unenviable dilemma of replacing a panel of tossers with a prick. I'd prefer they chose the latter:D.

Christ I'd never watch a Sky boxing show again if Naz was on the panel.

Whose the better looking boxer all they'll need to do is throw in Benn and we'd have a great team. I'd give them 2shows before there at each others throats

As an aside, I've just found that immortal quote from Brenden Ingle that was discussed on here the other day (3:20):

Probably not. I can't stand them, though. These are my reasons:
-Glen McCory seems bitter towards every other cruiser, including Nelson, and pretends to be enthusiastic about every Sky fight and less enthusiastic about others
-Nelson makes good points at times but allows himself to be spoken over. Out of all of them I agree with you, I like him the most:good.
-Piper just really annoys me and should stick to the MENSA meetings
-Jim Watt seems to have sold his soul to plug future PPV fights and now has to add weight to the other idiots' comments as they don't listen to him
-The overexcited commentator who commentates on fights in the UK seems clueless and is even more annoying than Andy Gray, IMO
-Dave Clark.....need I say more about Mr Autocue?:patsch
Sky need to sort this debacle out. The ITV team are up for grabs soon.

For British fights they should do a fanzone style thing. Take 2 die-hard followers of each fighter and let them do it. That would be fun

I like Jim Watt from the sky team.
Nelson is also ok in my eyes, the guy is genuinely passionate about the sport. I went to the prizefighter cruisers and he was standing up throwing punches whilst watching the fight, yet McCory and darts presenter jackass were just sat there chatting.

It's agood shout but they kind of do that at the moment with the partisan commentary team:-(. Pick the home fighter and never mention the other guy. Who's the main dude on Sky when they do Vegas shows? He seems to have a good rapport with the boxers and I like him- I never bother to learn the names of commentators:blood.

I'll mention another name: Richie Woodhall. What a find that bloke has been- as Kos says, another who is passionate about the sport. I respect his opinion as well, although he does love JC but the reason is obvious.

The fanzones would only attract partizan idiots like the football ones do. I like serious analysts with knowledge.

Sky never had Naz on as a pundit throughout the years of his career.
I dislike that Riath Hamed in that video - he is a cynical money minded man who was part of Naz's demise.
And Brendan ingle talking shit in that video nothing new there.....................

Nelson is the best but allows himself to be bullied by McCrory and Piper, which is ironic as back in the day he would have bashed those 2 no marks up at the same time.
I think you mean comfortably outpointed them over 12 rounds in which a total of 20 punches (combined) were thrown in each. ;)

Sky should get Tyson, Hamed, Eubank on the show. These guys can be controversial, funny and knowledgable. Nelson and co are too formal sometimes.

yeah i can just imagine the change of topics -ESB style!!, Eubank mentions rape, tyson starts shitting on slutty women, naz laughs and talks about his new rolex.

Me too. I find the guy so fcuking hilarious. It's such a shame Nas has pretty much stayed shy of the limelight since retiring. Quite ironic really.
Put Naz on the telly (I imagine him and Eubank would have a right tear up over commentary), and you've a subsciption from me, any day.

Naz can get carried away with stuff though - which is why he is fun of course
For example he has praised Amir Khan here as a "great" fighter - but I remeber after Ricky Hatton was KO'd by Floyd Mayweather he said Hatton had nothing to be ashamed of as he lost to what he believed was
"the greatest fighter of all time in Floyd Mayweather"
yes thats right - Naz was being humble for a change and saying there was someone better than him.
But Mayweather is not the greatest fighter of all time - maybe top 100 to 50 to 30 at a push.
