No, this would be a tough fight. I pick Cotto, but I wouldn't want to be him for the first week after this fight is over. The phrase "black and blue" comes to mind.

I agree. Cotto is just a more refined technical fighter then Hatton. He would catch him on the way in with his hard jabs and counters, and would have the shorter harder punches inside. That said however, I think it would be a brutal war, and would be a close fight. I think Hatton deserves a bit more credit then he gets. He is very effective at making his opponents fight his fight, and that is what Cotto would have to avoid to get the win.

If he lets Hatton hit and hold all night I think he could be in trouble.

If Hatton can go to war with Tszyu and take his power, Cotto is not knocking him out. Keep dreaming about that. You can bring up Collazo buzzing him with a clean combo in the 12 round all you want, Hatton's never been fucked up like Cotto was against light hitting Corley who Cotto outweighed on fight night by 20 pounds or something ridiculous. Cotto isn't invincible, he's shown just as much vulnerability as Hatton has, just in different ways

Id love for this fight to be made: 2 of my favorite boxers and I really consider that it would be a lot closer than people think.

Cotto would have the obvious physical advantages, but youve got to consider the fact that his style is perfect for Hatton. Hes an orthodox fighter who likes to come forward. Couple that with the fact that Hatton has a great engine and can really bang, and that Cotto's chin has looked a bit shaky at times and you realise that the fight would be a lot closer than people give it credit for.
