Yeah that's what I've heard too (and have read personally in a couple of sources). But redrooster says he read a magazine once that said Whitaker got his ass handed to him and the sparring session needed to be stopped to protect Whitaker from further punishment. I'd like to read about it first hand. :good

igot a lot of mags from those years so i'll take a lot sometime and let you know.i don't remember it myself but then again i was into the heavies and a few lighter fighters like hearns,leonard,hagler,duran etc

What always irked me a bit about that issue is that there was no mention of the Monzon 'scoop' on the cover. It had Tyson on, which is fair enough, but you'd think they at least have it running across the top (probably a small photo of Darrin Van Horn or something). :nono :yep

i guess mike tyson was the fighter people wanted to see then and it made for sales.i lived through the 60's and 70's ali was on many more covers then even tyson was.

The mag was called Definitely True Gym Tales. I think Lester Bromberg edited and Bill Gallo doodled the events "as they happened".

my top 100 may not be your top 100 mags,i have magaazines called jack dempsey sport from 1938, arena,arena and strength both from the late 1930's,all kinds of mags with ali on the cover that only lasted 1 or 2 issues names like boxing and wrestling from the 1960's,boxing and wrestling from the 1950's about 71 issues to that complete set i think,comics of joe louis from the 1930's i think,issues devoted to fights like ali/frazier,ali/foreman,special issues on rocky marciano,got a soft cover book from the 1950's with stories on marciano and many others from that era and much more

i got your entire list encluding the other 2 rings you wanted,i assume these are all ring mags you want.1 i know i don't have is april 2007,i had stopped collecting in march of 2000
so i'll look and see how many of these 11 ring magazines i have for you
sorry i took so long but i've mean repairing my d6 bulldozer i had a few problems with it
