I haven't seen this fantasy match-up before (even though it must have been made up some point), so I thought I'd give it a try. The two perhaps greatest LHWs throw down. Who wins?

Charles.
Foster relied heavily on certain physical advantages that Charles would not respect or be bent by.
The range, power and outfighting abilites would be things that Charles was adept at overcoming due to his heavyweight career.

I think Charles gets to him, either by decision or late stoppage.

I guess i'd be picking Charles if it was happening tomorrow, but it'd be a heart-in-mouth type pick. The confidence you boys have kind of shocks me.

Let us remember that Bob Foster in his own right was a very smart fighter, and a premiership jabber.

I'm surprised as well.

Yes. And this would pose all sorts of trouble for Charles. Has anyone at LHW ever had a better jab than Foster?

I picked Foster by KO, mostly to go against the, so far, concensus. Would really like to see more footage of Charles before I do this with any confidence, though. But can't really see how Foster's combination of skill and power wouldn't be a nightmare for anyone his size. He has that ungodly reach and hard jab as well, that makes it very hard for anyone to get in close on him. And even at mid-range that left hook makes him deadly.

Foster is just about my no1 h2h at the weight...but Charles has firmly taken that spot for a while now in my eyes.
Any given night this could go either way...At their very best, even though I have not seen a lot of 175 Charles, Id give the edge the Ezzard.

I say Foster by late, late stoppage.
Not confidently mind; as close a fantasy fight as there can be.

Foster isn't quite tough enough, defensively savy enough, or to take it from Charles. Charles is the better boxer with the better defense, chin and craftier.
Charles wins by late stoppage

Charles throughout his career had trouble with 6'3 jabbers(Louis, Valdez busted him up) but on the flipside look what happened to foster with Jones Folley Mina and Terrell.....I like charles by knockout here. I think ezzard at his best had the handspeed and skill to outslick foster and the power to knock him out cold... I see ezzard survivng an early storm to slowly fight his way back and slowly pick foster apart...and the pinpoint shots will take its toll on foster. In the 11th charles opens up and floors foster 4 times until the ref stops the fight. Charles eye completley shut from fosters jab.

I think Charles outpoints him or perhaps stops him late. His boxing skills, chin and overall abilities were a bit better than Foster's. Bob's power would always be a factor, and he might deck Ezzard once or twice, but no way is Ez' staying down.

I like Foster against a lot of historys best 175 pounders, but I dont think he has much hope at all with Charles outside the old punchers chance.
Foster hasn`t beat anybody good enough that you could pick him over a man that beat Lesnevich,Moore, Bivins ,Maxim and Louis.

Finnegan gave Foster alot of problems with straight punches im sure Ezzard could utilise this for a close close UD

Charles for me, if anyone can get the stoppage over him in fantasy fights it would be Foster though, i just think Charles could mix it up with variety and ultimately outfight him in a close one.

I think Foster would give him a damn good run meself. His jab would be a telling factor.

This basically sums up my evaluation. I pick Charles because he was far more proven against top competition.
