A few months ago, I think I may have started a similar thread, asking if the forum felt Roy Jones was a top 10 all time great light heavyweight. Just thought I'd do it again for good measure.

What does everyone think?

Yes. He cleaned out the division except DM and was Undisputed at that weight class. He's also a two time LHW Champion and possibly Three Time LHW Champion by the time his career is done.

I do believe Jones will end up with a general consensus top 10 rating at light heavyweight reign in the not so distant, if not present, time frame.

Jones had 14 good wins at 175 before challenging John Ruiz at heavyweight. The Frazier fight may not be a good win, but that still puts Jones in double digits. A lot of Jones' praise is due to his athletic gifts, and they were still very apparent at 175. His strength of opposition, or lack there of, will forever keep him from the division's all time few.

Nah. I don't rate him high enough on accomplishments. It's pretty absurd to rank him among the top 10 LHW's based on anything other than H2H, really. Even in that case he's in the bottom half.

Not but he's right on the edge around 11-12.

Yes. The Jones that smacked Montell in one could be an all time great at 175. Of course 160 and 168 is Jones already. DRMULLEN.

I don't care for Roy Jones outside of the ring. He abuses animals. He was caught with his testosterone level 5 times above the legal limit.

However in the ring Roy Jones was a great one. I think he was a bottom level top ten all timer.

If he fought dogs that is reprehensible, cock fighting I'm not too sure about as we all play a part in factory farming chickens after all. The testosterone claim was never fully proven.

I rate him top3 at 175 based on dominance and ability against very good opposition, he went about 10 years barely losing a round, we know you rate this highly M :yep

Roy Jones is the most physically talented fighter to ever lace on gloves. He possibly could have faced a few more fighters during his prime, but he was very adament about doing things on his terms without a promoter. He was never a natural LH and the fact he went up and dominated puts him near the top in my opinion. He faced all styles and unified the titles. Who else could he have fought? The whole circus with the WBO titliest was a joke. Dariuz Michalzewski never lived up to the hype, he wasnt that great and not having that fight on his resume is no big deal in my opinion.
