Good call, maybe not 100+ or 200+ fights, but a perfect 49-0 with wins over 4 hall of famers.

Roberto Duran, Im sure he was 70-1 when he stepped into the ring against Leonard.
Chavez was 87-0 before he shared a ring with Whitaker. If it wasn't for the three blind mice at ringside that night it would have been 87-1, and not 87-0-1.
Robinson and Pep had crazy unbeaten records as well over long periods. I'm sure Robinson was 120-1 or close to that before he was beaten by Turpin. The previous defeat was at the hands of Lamotta.

Probably a stupid question to ask, but i've always wondered why fighters back in the day had way more fights than now. it seems most people retiring now are going away with like 40 or so fights as opposed to the 100+ of back when...

I thought I'd really sign-posted it this time... I'm going to keep that graphic for future attempts.
You're in Caledonia where irony is common and well understood.

People also got paid less, so they had to fight more to pay the bills. When fighters can get a few million in a single fight when they have a title, there is less urgency to get back in the ring within the next two or three weeks to defend their title again.

Some random good numbers:
Jimmy Wilde 137-5-2, but probably nearer 300-5
Barney Ross 74-4
Ray Robinson 173-19-6 (a combined pro and amateur record of 216-1-2 at one time)
Maxie Rosenbloom 221-42-32 with many of defeats were fixed
John Henry Lewis 93-8-5
Jose Luis Ramirez 102-9
Gene Tunney 82-1-3
