Olympic gold medallist who won a world title before his he had 20 pro fights.
Totally dominated by tito trinidad and never recovered.Retired like 2 or so bouts after..
Not sure how hes doing these days..He had decent skill but unfortunetly couldnt have the success he did in the amateurs.
Still a olympic gold medal and a pro world title aint a bad level of success.

Jeff Lacy
I don't think Lacy is finished (subject to he recovering from his rotator cuff injury which is a big ask in itself). He desperately needs the right trainer to take his ego out of the equation and work on his skills. I am hopeful he can make a comeback. He is probably not an elite fighter at the peak of the division but he is a lot better than most people think that have jumped on the anti Lacy bandwagon

I was just about to mention him. Michael Grant was supposed to be the next Great Champion. I remember reading an article on him in Ring Magazine back in 1999 I think. They talked about how he was a deadlock to be an elite contender and a probable champion. And then he went to shit
I remember seeing him in like 2003 or something on his "comeback". Teddy Atlas was training him and he got knocked out by a wide-ass left hook from some bum.

Although i do have to give Milton some credit for beating Luis 'Fake-an-injury' Santana in 1985. Being a native San Diegan... i really hated what Luis Santana did to Terry Norris 2x!

and
Duddy is going to get his ass beat soon as he steps up in class. I watched a 90 year old Campas take him to the limit and walk through his best shots and give him a terribly hard fight. I thought Campas won the fight also. So it is only a matter of time before Duddy gets the shit beat out of him, again
He decisively defeated ( 8 rounds to 4) a 35 year old Campas. ( younger than Shane, Winky, Bernard, Tszyu, Joppy,Calzaghe, etc. when they were very competitive)
He's undefeated with a 76 % KO rate and his resume is still unfolding.

Not a dud either: A former title holder with 36-1 (31 KOs). Only loss: close fight with a prime great MAB.

I had Campas winning the fight 7 rounds to 5. He rocked Duddy multiple times. Duddy showed great heart, but personally I thought Campas won. It was close though, but the Judges scorecards were ridiculous. They had Duddy wining like 10-2 and 9-3. The fight was much more competitve
How you had it is irrelevent. The judges had it 7-5, 8-4, and 9-3. I had it 8-4.
Fact is, until he loses, he cannot be considered a dud (no pun intended!)

Mate that fight was not close,i cant remember the score, but he got schooled by Mab,i fucking loved it,could not stand hamed, great fighter for sure, but came across like a complete bastard as a person IMO.
Also he did not come back from it,Mab knocked the heart out of him for ever,he made a real half hearted come back a bit later, but all the hype and shit talking had gone for good.

How you had it is irrelevant also. You wouldnt be Irish by any chance would you? I still feel Duddy is going to get exposed one of these days. It will come in time
When I say how you had it is irrelevant, I meant that in the sense that he's still undefeated. It's the record book that determines whether or not someone has been defeated. In that sense, how I had it is in accordance with the actual result.
(I believe that Oscar should have gotten a clear decision over Tito, but since I wasn't a judge, my score is irrelevant in the sense that Oscar was NOT undefeated after the Trinidad fight.)
Re: Duddy: He's nothing special (so far), but in no sense has he proved to be a dud, at least not yet, regardless of what he MIGHT do in the future, and regardless his or my ethnic background.

Most of what you say is true. (The fight was closer than you remember). I'm not a fan. I won $20 on that night and I'll admit some glee in his defeat. He's a bit of an asshole.
That said, he in no way fits the criteria of being a dud. He was a champion with an impressive record, and given the tens of thousands of pugilists toiling away these many decades, he's no worse than top 5 % of all boxers ever.
Hardly a dud.

No , He could be a dud depending on how your defining it . He wasn't a loser but it was pretty lame how he acted like he was the greatest and then crumbled after a loss . I'd call that a dud in my book ! :good
You're right about it coming down to definitions.
In my book, a dud is someone who showed promise but then never achieved anything (Perfect example: Audley Harrison)
The prince did certainly have his achievements as I mentioned in my earlier post.
So, as you say, it comes down to your definition of dud.
Jeff Lacy
Losing to a great fighter doesn't make you a dud.

Gold medal Olympian and unified champ. Then he tanked and tanked hard. I meant looking promising directly after beating Ali. I'm sure many thought he was the future of the sport. Then he lost to a guy making his pro debut and a guy who retired with a 3-53 record.

Whatever happened to Michael Carruth - 1992 Olympic Welterweight champion from Ireland.
I remember watching Ireland win a Gold and a Silver on that day. The Silver went to Wayne McCullough but what happened to the Gold medalist?
Certainly made less impact than Wayne, Audley or Mr Amir for that matter...
