View Full Version : So at this point in time.. what's the bigger PPV to be made, Cotto/PBF or Hatton/PBF?

Hatton has drawing power, and after Cotto's fight with Judah, I think he has potential to be a big draw, as well. Both Cotto and Hatton are undefeated, both are considered P4P fighters, and they also have the benefit of crushing two fighters whom Floyd had some trouble with.
So at this moment.. what is the bigger fight to be made?

Hatton vs Mayweather
Mayweather had much more trouble with Castillo than Zab and what Hatton did to Castill dwarfs what Cotto did to Zab, you can talk about Castillo being shot all you like but he has come closer than anyone to beating PBF and Hatton crossed him of the hitlist in 4.
Dialogue and choice words have been traded between the two with hints coming from all areas that this fight is a possibility, Hatton has a better resumé than Cotto and is more famous, i think the Fight Night appearances for Hatton will have helped widen Ricky's fanbase with the younger generation.

I would much rather see Hatton vs. Cotto. Both guys want to fight and do fight.
Floyd says he doesn't want to fight and when he does fight, he'll do the least amount of work it takes to win.

You've gotta admit though, the fact that Castillo wasn't.. let's just say he wasn't what he used to be, you gotta admit that counts for something when comparing the Castillo who showed up to fight Mayweather and the one who fought Hatton. But other than that, I agree with what you're saying.

Hatton v Cotto is the way to go!

Cotto PBF easy.
first of all they have a big following anyway so it doesn't matter if Hatton draws a crowd.
All 3 draw a crowd.
Both also have a punch first style that doesn't depend on clinching as much (PBF is a bit of a hugger).
It would have more chance of being a good fight.
Hatton doing good means he butchers a fight.
Cotto/PBF would definitely be more exciting to the eye than a Hatton/Mayweather fight would be, but no way would Cotto draw a bigger crowd than Hatton.

hatton does not have the skills to be a ppv fighter. no one will buy his fights after his clinch fst with castillo. haton lost alot of cred with that performance:smoke

A fight with Hatton would make more in England than a Cotto/PBF fight here in the states...but I don't think that we would ever see Hatton/PBF

Mayweather had more trouble with a young Castillo. Definitely not the Castillo who fought Hatton. If you want to use your logic...then Cotto destroyed Victoriano Sosa and stopped him in 4 rounds. Victoriano gave PBF a tough go for 12 rounds...Also Cotto stopped Chop Chop in the 5th round. Pbf went 12 round and was even hurt by him....what I'm I trying to point out? That your logic sucks. Cotto has gained fans outside of Puerto Rico, Hatton I'm not to sure of.

Fat chance of PBF coming down to 140 or Hatton moving up, so Cotto-PBF makes more sense

Your the one that thinks a guy has to put on a big fuss if he is hurt, the casual fans don't give a shit how old he was they see a guy that in some minds beat PBF get clobbered by Hatton and want to see them fight. No one knows who Victoriano and chop chop are but absolutely everyone knows about Castillo-Corrales, the Cotto victories that you have mentioned have had nowhere near as much publicity as this.

Cotto/Mayweather - The most obvious case for this fight is that it would probably be the more exciting and crowd-pleasing of the two, but it's questionable whether Cotto can draw more fans, and PPV buys than Hatton would be able to.
Hatton/Mayweather - Would most likely be a dull " tactical " effort, but as everyone saw tonight.. Hatton's fans will travel probably anywhere to watch him fight, and imagine how many he would attract for a fight with Mayweather? Not to mention that Hatton might be a more difficult fight for Floyd than Cotto would.

Why do you think Cotto has many more PPV fights than Hatton? Cotto sold out MSG...21,000 seats...and it would've been more in a larger venue.
Hatton/PBF was big right after Hatton beat Tszyu, now it's HUGE. My pick is definitely Hatton/PBF, Hatton has some major victories against legendary fighters, Cotto doesn't.

Hatton-Mayweather would sell out Wembley and if it was ppv would get at least 500,000 buys in Britain alone if marketed correctly
so Castillo is a legendary fighter?...I know he had a legendary fight against Coralles, but is he a lengendary fighter...I don't think so.
He might not be to some people but he will remembered as an exciting fighter in the future and as a legend, many will disagree with that now I'm sure so let's put Castillo aside, Kostya Tszyu is an accomplished legend even when he stepped foot in the ring the night he fought Hatton, so that's a major win right there. Cotto has had decent wins but can you compare any with wins over Kostya Tszyu(TKO11) and Castillo(KO4)?

Do you care about that? I don't give a shit abut that. I would like to see PBF fighting both. I am a boxing fan. I hope PPV disappear.:yep

I would've said the same about the Cotto fight but Hatton finished off Castillo in 4 rounds and didn't seem to struggle as Cotto did against Judah at times during the fight. I know that styles make fights and all but if you try to compare them this is the first thing that'll pop in your head.

i think Hatton/PBF would make more PPV revenue.. Larry Holmes vs Jerry Clooney comes into mind in comparison to this potential bout..
