4/1 on a Yank winning it looks tempting for an interest bet. I don't think Froch or Abraham will winning so Kessler is the big danger (obviously).

I doubt they'll even finish the tournament. Remember the recent lightweight 'tournament' with Valero. After the first round they just started pretending it wasn't supposed to be a tournament after all.

Kessler is boxing Gusmyl Perdomo on 12th September, his mandatory. I read somewhere that an agreement had been reached with the governing bodies to not allow mandatories to get in the way of the Super Six (or maybe it was just the WBC in particular, I am unsure).
Although I don't expect Kessler to lose to Perdomo, it's still risky considering what's at stake in the Super Six, he could easily pick up an injury or something. It'll be interesting to see how the bookies rate his chances after September 12th.

True this. I can't see Taylor winning at all and Abraham, though dangerous, is maybe too low in workrate. Froch has a chance, I can see him being picked apart by Kessler but stylewise he would have a decent shot at any of the other guys. Ward/Dirrell are the x-factor, the unbeaten but unproven guys whose true level remains to be seen. My pick is Kessler. You could get almost 3/1 on him the other day though so putting some money on him and then laying off by betting on an American to win looks good.

Looking at the odds it seems it maybe possible to basically "buy money" on this one. This is based on the best odds shown at Oddschecker at the time of writing.
Lay the following:
£40 on Kessler at 11-4 (wins £110)
£40 on Froch at 11-4 (wins £110)
£35 on Abraham at 7/2 (wins £122.50)
£30 on an American winner at 4-1 (wins £120)
That said, the profit margin is in the 4-5% region, so putting my finance head on for a second, bearing in mind that it's probably going to be early 2011 by the time the winner is know that's about 2-3% per annum. Still, probably beats a bank deposit right now!

Kessler 9/4
Froch 5/2
Seems too close to me or is that just the odds in Britain cos they know most of the money will be for Froch?

I would assume that they are probably the British odds only. The ones I quoted were the best available from all bookies via oddschecker. Froch is likely to be a bit short with British bookies than he should be to allow for the fact that most of the money is likely to be going on him. However, the only people likely to bet on this in the U.K. are probably going to be the hardcore boxing fans and a few Froch fans. It's not like Hatton where the bookies are going to be full of people sticking their money on him regardless of who he's fighting.
Taking that into account i wouldn't expect the odds to be massively different at other bookmakers. Looking at American bookies Sportsbook.com, they have Froch -150 (basically 4/6) to defeat Dirrell who is +120 (6/5). This isn't massively different from some of the odds over here (bet365 have Froch 4/6 and Dirrell 11/10, William Hill do have it a bit longer with Froch 8/15 and Dirrell 11/8).

You'd have to be very careful that all the bookies have exactly the same rules for this market.
Good spot though.

Yep, Mike. Its bit of a fucking minefield, the touney not being completed shouldn't be problem (bets refunded) but theres pull outs to consider.
Fuck that. Waiting that long for that payout?
I'm putting 50 on an American winner.

Might be worth a punt, though I don't think it'll be Taylor. I'd probably go fifty on Kessler and 50 on a U.S. winner. Hard for me to see Froch or Abraham getting the better of Kessler, hard to see Taylor getting the better of any of them besides maybe Abraham. Ward and Dirrell are the unknown (or untested anyway) factor and 4-1 on any of those two or Taylor to win has to be worth a punt.

Agreed. After Dude gets beats twice I can see the fallout.I would better bet that the originals in this tourney finish all 3 fights or NOT.I will take the NOT bet.:deal

id tip kessler to win the tournament but who else reckons dirrell will do a number on Froch, i'd never seen dirrel before so i checked him out on youtube and he is so fast looked a lot quicker than Taylor and you all know what would have happened if Taylor had better stamina, but then again Dirrell did seem to get caught a lot and you don't know if he can take a punch from Froch so i dont know wether to take a punt on Dirrell at 7/4

Froch gets beat in the tourney IMO. He gets hit too often and is likely sooner or later to have his chin say FAIL, as his excellent chin is his best defence.
The good money is on Kessler, he is an animal who hit Calzaghe hard and pushed him all the way in the meeting that they had, he is also still young and in his prime.

If it goes ahead as planned then i suspect all the fighters will suffer a least one loss.
But this is what boxing is about.......for to long we have accepeted the very best of ur era picking and choosing who to fight for numerous reasons........he hasnt got a name, he dosent bring enough money, im better and dont have to prove it.
Fight fight fight i say.

We can also be too critical when a boxer does suffer a loss, thats part of the reason boxers/ manager and promoters are so cautious these days.

I dunno about that..........when i think of Joe Frazier, i dont think he all of a sudden a bum because he lost to Ali and Foreman.
Hatton (the hypeman) didnt lost popular appeal when he lost to old Mayweather. What people dont like is the wool over the fans method.

Joe Frazier lost to Ali nearly 40 years ago and you'll always find exceptions like Hatton (although I'm moving up in weight and fighting the P4P number 1, its arguable how much damage a loss could have done to his reputation with fans), I'm talking about how boxers are along and matched these days. They are far too cautious and lot of that is from the fear of how the fans these days percieve a loss on a boxers record.
Whats the "wool over the fans method"? Are we talking knitted jumpers? Or homemade air conditioning covers?
