I know some people on here love Brian Hughes and i have a lot of time for him but after re-watching the Hall-Small fight i looked at it and thought he needs to move on. His style needs head movement and a stiff jab and to not smother his work and actually through shots from mid range. He never used that and his footwork was slow and laborious. I also didn't like the use of the cross arm guard he was using.

Was that Hall's fault or Hughes?? i don't know but i feel if Ince can sit him down and start to add some more straight punches and head movement he could get back on track.

Good luck to Hall hope he can pull it back together.

I felt he let the fight go when he got the second cut he fell apart and i feel he lost there and then standing in front of Small and Whinging punches.

Nice to know he left Hughes on good terms as well.

Hall needs to learn how to move his head while he is coming forwards, while also being ready to counter from whatever angle he slips from.

Well at least it seems Hall will still be fighting. ****** in his Sun column said that Hall was contemplating retirement.

Yeah agreed. He said he based himself on Tyson yet he doesn't use the key skills Tyson had.

I hope Ince works on him slipping and goes old school on him and uses the work Atlas and Rooney used on Tyson mixed with his modern training techniques.

I don't think its a wise move. As i've said previously we have yet to see any type of championship form from the ince camp. I could be wrong and he may turn out to be the top trainer in world boxing but training championship class amateurs to beat journeyman and area class fighters is not difficult. Why not go to Oliver Harrison who has a similar fighters with championship form at similar weights? Ince for the moment seems to be the trainer of choice with sports network fighters and he may come up trumps but i've yet to see anything spectacular from his camp.

Fair play though Halls been around the game a long time but I can't help but think that this is a bad move.

I agree with you Jeff on that. To me Oliver has shown he can work with different fighters and showed his work on a bigger stage. I feel the move will help Matthew but Ince will have to improve him and i hope he does.

There must be a reason to go to Ince...lets hope it's for Boxing reasons.

How do u no Karl is not better than Oliver? give him a chancetrue Arnie... But oliver has the form to demonstrate his training abilities as a guide line whereas Karl hasn't.... yet. I'm really suprised Matthew didn't go to your gym. did you talk about it?

Oliver Harrison, Joe Gallagher, Mr Farnell.... lots of choices. Why Karl? If i was to interview him i'd love the answer to that question.

honestly, i reckon you could send Hall to the wildcard for a year and Small would still win.

He just couldnt seem to figure him out, he is still young though and not boxes with Smalls style, I hope he can rebound and do well.

This will battle now will be as much about mental strength and ability as opposed to fighting ability.....it will depend on how much Matthew Hall really wants to taste success at the top IMHO:bbb

He had him figured out alright but he couldn't sustain a workrate and fell apart. He needed to be fitter, had he been he would have not fallen apart in that manner.

Hall is limited and did well to have the success he had, moving trainer will not help him.

It was surprising to see see Brian Hughes to "fuck off" after the fight when Small went over to talk to Hall. In less Small said something that we didn't hear, it looked it was just back lash for Small's pre fight antics.

I think it was to do with pre fight and in ring antics. Anthony was pulling faces at Hughes in clinches with Hall.

I totally disagree.... if Hall wants it bad enough and can get the right person to draw it out of him he can bounce back....:bbb

Nah he is quite an handful for any domestic opponent but any fighter with serious ambition or talent will beat him, he could possibly become a British champ again but only if the opposition is non threatening, he seems to have a good fan base so he should get the breaks he wants.

no disrespect but hughes is probably the worst coach in britain out of the top dogs.

This is a good move in my opinion as he may learn some new tricks with another trainer. But the kid has to learn "how" to cut his opponent down effectively and let his hands go rather than survey his work and eat punches just to let one go. Small was able to outbox him because he didnt offer much in the way of resistance and primarily he didnt move his head.
