When I think of a beat down, I think of a boxer getting dominated round after round until a knockout occurs something similiar to Tyson/douglas or Calazaghe/Lacy. I dont consider a lucky punch a beat down unless its one like Mercer put on Morrison, now that was a knockout.

Where do Dempsey/Willard and Louis/Schmeling II place? I'd have to put Dempsey/Willard at No. 1
I think of Toney Barkley. Both eyes shut.

I think that qualifies as Worst Beatdown, not Best. That fight is sad, disturbing, and somehow weirdly enertaining...

I want to see that fight mainly for the Howard Cossell commentary, been hearing about it for years and still haven't had the chance to see the whole fight.

Holmes was basically landing in the 75% range and Cobb just eating it and walking forward with no success, it was terrible, makes boxing look bad.
Should have been stopped about round 8, but it went on 5 more rounds.

i couldnt imagine a worse beaten then the one gomez gave him, his lip was sliced in half and he just collapsed to the canvas painful to watch, alot of his fights in which he was battered to the point of death have been removed off youtube. i guess people want to honour him and remember him as the fighter who gave us all those exciting brawls against journeymen

Muhammad Ali vs Ernie Terrell was Ali at his sadistic best. He could have ended the fight when ever he wanted but continued to punish Terrell for the full 15 rounds. One of my favorite fights. :yep

I saw the fight live and heard Howard's rant and wasn't that sorry to see him leave.
While the fight was very one-sided and I believe Holmes won every round, most of them very decisively, Cobb was never close to being stopped. He had one of the best (maybe THE best) chins in the sport.
That night he took a lickin' and kept on tickin'.
He joked later that he was trying to wear out Larry's fists. He figured if the fight had gone another twenty rounds, he would have got him.
