I don't mind contructive critisism, but thats just being an asshole. When did I ever say I jumped like him? And hes a top professional, how can you even compare me to him?
Don't say something like that just because you suck and are jelous.

Nice man, i liked the weighted stuff too..

Right now im just now getting to the point where i can criss-cross and skip at the same time, but i never even tried to cross till 2 days ago, so im actually making pretty good progress, before that i just did sprints and normal skipping(no cross).

Thanks and I'll just tell you right now, don't spend to much time trying to learn all those moves, they sorta come naturally after jumping for awhile. Half those moves I do I learned by accident just fucking around with the rope on my free time at home. When I skip rope before an acctual training day in the gym, I try to limit those moves, this way I'm skipping hardcore for the full 3min without fucking up.
No point in skipping if you mess up every 5secs trying new moves.

Since I started boxing 7 years ago.

impressed with the last 30 seconds mostly with the weights on the wrist. try this... it will get u crazy fit.

get a clock and sit it infront of where ur skipping.
use 10 seconds intervals.
first ten seconds is relaxed
second ten seconds is sprints
third set of ten seconds is double ups
then skip normally
DO THIS FOR THE WHOLE ROUND EVERY ROUND.
i was doing this wen my wrist wasnt injured. realy helps ur stamina

I acctaully do something very similar to that during real training. This video was filmed during my free time in my basement. When I'm at the gym I limit the fancy moves and concentrate on going allout for the full 3min without messing up. No point in jump ropeing if your messing up causing you to stop for a second.
Again this video was made just to showcase moves and whatnot, not the process of acctaul training. I do use the weights during the jumping though, mostly the wrist weights, those cause more resistance. The weighted vest helps a little to build strenght in the calfs and feet, but I use it more for calistenics and running.

Greg, that is AWESOME work!!!! Real good movement and balance. You seem real light on your feet, man. I have the Buddy Lee book and your jumping definitly resembles his style, just like Floyd.

Greg, which Buddy Lee rope do you use, his 30 dollar speed (black handles, his crosstrainer for 20 dollars (long handles) or his junior speed (red handles)? Thanks.

Also, how much do you weigh?

I wrestle and I'm 260 and find it difficult to keep my elbows all the way in like you and Buddy suggest. Do you have any suggestions? I'm also having a hard time with cross' because of the muscles, but maybe if I use a slightly longer rope? What do you think? Here is a video of me jumping,

if possible would you be able to look at it and make a suggestion , (foot work, rope length or anything)? Thanks and keep it up.

I use the Aero Speed Rope and I weight 150lbs.
As for your video, very nice job. You where very fast and in control for your weight, I was not expecting that at all. As for the rope lenght, that looks more than long enough, if you step on the middle of the rope with both feet and the handle tips reach your armpits then that is how long the rope should be.
As for the crosses, it's really hard for me to comment on what you can do since I didn't see you attempt any. I can tell the your lats get in the way of you keeping your elbows tucked in, which is a bit of a problem for doing crosses and the problem with increasing the rope size to more than you need will mess up your other moves from the rope slapping the ground every rotation. Only thing I can really think of, is for you to try and use your wrist rotation more when following through with the cross, other than that it is just lots of practice and patience.

Thanks for the tips, Greg. and again, VERY impressive work!! Do you happen to have any boxing vids around and what level fighter are you?

kenny i think your rope is just alittle long, its touching the ground stopping you from going faster and smoother.

Saddly I have no videos of me boxing. I don't take a camera with me when I'm training in the gym, nor do I have anyone thats going to sit and film me (I move from gym to gym quiet a bit, because of school and money).
I have had some of my fights filmed, but they are all on videotape and are all normally taped over for someone else once I'm done reviewing it.
As for my level, I currently as of 4 months ago, just became a certifed boxing coach, I'd never gone Professional only due to school. But I have had over 160 fights counting both unofficial (mostly unoffical lol) and official fights, that meaning sanctioned fights by USA Boxing and non-sanctioned.
Again the only videocamera I have is at home and I have no way of getting it until december. So maybe around then I can get some footage.

Does jumping rope like that serve any special purpose? Other than just looking badass i mean lol... I'm not trying to take anything away from how good it is, just wondering if jumping normally is just as effective.

Haha, I guess you can say some of the moves are flashy but they do server a purpose. Some are used to help improve the difficulty of the jumprope workout, for example; the double unders, crosses, running in place, doing stuff 1 legged. Most of the side to side stuff and things that look flashy, do help to increase hand speed and hand cordination.
The thing that makes jumping rope so identical to boxing, is the fact that in both your hands and legs must think for themselfs and work together by doing different complicated things.

I'm perhaps a more erratic jumper but I always fancied my speed was good.

Just not very smooth.

Seriously, I know what my skill is and I know how many fights I've had and how many hundreds of hours I've spent boxing, I have no need to prove anything to anyone.
There are many professional fighters who you won't find any videos of fighting on the internet. Acctually most pros pop out of nowhere.
And like I said I've had most my fights videotaped, but for training purposes only. Once I was done reviewing the tape, it was retaped over for other fighters and so on.
I'm not going to go through the trouble of taking a videotape and having it converted to a CD then convert it to a file I can upload to youtube, so I can prove to a couple people on the internet of what I can do.

Actually, what you say here is exactly what I meant.

I was being sarcastic at that other guy's comment.

Anyway you write good advice around here, as you sound like someone of experience.

Most I read around here is just flaming, and junk.

School. I love boxing but it extremely hard to make a living off it. Most pro boxers have that as there job 24/7 and nothing else. I don't have time anymore.
