Those were the days. Mirko was DSE's boy. They wanted him to beat Fedor and make Mirko the 'Ace' of the company.

Pride was one dodgy company but they did really put on a show. Nobody can do it like they did it.

why doesn't the ufc do this

why doesn't the ufc do thisBecause the UFC has greater appeal for rednecks who love nothing more than to "wrastle" and drink beer. There two entirely diffrent products with very little in common.

Pride was born out Pro-wrestling (UWFI). Pride was more than just 2 fighters in the ring. It was a spectacle with no expense spared to produce the greatest show.

forgive my laziness,

so how was it, was it a beating? domination?

i remember crocop everytime he fights, someone's head is going to fly, hahaha. i remember noguera and crocop dominating that time (i haven't watched fedor that time)

crocop's fight against wanderlei, if i remember it right, ended up with a draw (strange rules by pride, but extremely good). but the one thing that sitcked to my mind was when crocop finally connected with a shot to the thorax. the area, and i mean a big area turned balck and blue

It was a close fight, Fedor won a clear decision but in his own words, it was the biggest challenge for him.
I am sure you can find the vid anywhere, I think I saw it at dailymotion.

I loved how Fedor took Cro-cop by suprise & walked him down, he was actually pressurizing Cro-cop, making him make his moves earlier than he would have, he definitely had an effect on the mind of Mirko, everyone feared the stand-up of Cro-cop back then & it took Mirko by complete suprise to see Fedor coming forward not intimidated in the slightest.

Great fight tho.

GdU7a2i2Z24There was genuine hatred between them two. Rampage is a guy who fears no man. Alot of Silva's reputation was built on his ferocity and fear. Rampage never succumbed to that. Those were some beatings though. The kind that would normally end a guys career. Im still dumbfounded to think all that Rampage went on to achieve in the UFC despite those bad beatings.

Yeah Rampage is a genuinely hard bloke. Great chin as well. Took a fair few flush knees to the face from Wanderlei to knock him out. Can't wait for him to KO Rashad Evans.

wow, Just WOW. now that's the definition of "the best fighting the best", "the beast vs the other beast".

1st round, crocop looked like the veteran of the two. he gave fedor little opportunity to explode, and taking advantage of fedor's mistakes. he landed some serious bombs there, i was surprised fedor wasn't bothered. close but clearly crocop round

2nd round, it looked like fedor figured out crocop. dominance. fedor round

3rd round is pretty much a repeat of the 2nd round.

i can't believed i idolized the don frye, the mark coleman, the dan severn, the ken shamrock, the tito ortiz, the maurice smith of the UFC. hell, crocop's defense alone will TKO mark coleman in the very first round.

another thing, does fedor always fight like that. He was like "just another day at the office, whew". he's like "i don't care if my nose is broken, or if my face hurts, i'm gonna do my job. even when the bullshit breaks by the ref in the third round when fedor was starting to "bombs away", he didn't look like he was bothered.

CC stuffed every one of Colemans takedown as though they were attempts from a crude amatuer. Not shortly after stuffing another one CC KO'ed him and completely humiliated Coleman.

Mirko's sprawl was/is amazing. It didnt take him long to master the art of the sprawl at all.

Now his just a shot fighter who goes in swinging wide looping punches. Not to mention he cant take a shot like he used to.
