I bet 100% will say Machida.

And i guess i'll also have to say the same. However , i'd like to also say even though Shogun may not be "the" guy to end machida's winning streak.... Machida's gameplan is extremely predictable. (and yet , it is still working...) He almost lost against past prime Sam Greco (who had no ground game but coincidentally , was also a karateka)...and i believe someone will eventually use machida's antics and reverse the situation to their advantage.

I don't think Shogun's camp are smart enough to counter machida's style , but i hope shogun will prove me wrong.

here's the rest of the card btw

I'm also predicting Velasquez to beat Carwin.
(even though Carwin is the stronger and more powerful wrestler)...

But Velasquez has a superior gas tank...and since he's endurant and has a solid chin...i think he can manage to grab a UD

I think Machida will pick Shogun off probably winning a UD or late TKO. I hope Shogun wins but i don't see it happening.

I think Carwin will really put a beating on Velasquez. Kongo had Velasquez hurt every time he landed clean shots he should have been finished off by Kongo more than once Carwin won't let him off the hook.

I think Shogun has a better chance then most believe. Beebs pointed out that Machida is heavy on that front foot and I think Shogun should use that to his advantage and really work that roundhouse kick. Also if you watch Ortiz-Machida in that 3rd round Ortiz got the Thai Plum on Machida and although he couldnt do much with it Shogun is awhole nother animal in the Thai Clinch. Shogun has a great chin and has only been beat recently when his arm was broke and when he was injured and totally gassed out.

Machida eventually either knocks him down with that lunging straight left, or trips him, then pounds him out on the ground.

Shogun Rua lost to Forrest Griffin via Submission, then he barely beats an 'old' Mark Coleman... Thanks to Dana White, who was under the assumption that Chuck Liddell could beat Shogun, he pairs them up. I'll give Shogun the 'nod' in that fight, but then again, its clear that Liddell is way past his prime and was on his way out.

Machida just captured the gold, and although I do not like it, we are in the "Age of Machida,." He is too unpredictable, and his game is pretty solid right now. Machida will beat Shogun, and I think it will be pretty bad. :rasta

If Machida loses, its bigger than Douglas/Tyson. Shoguns career ends that night.

Way overboard; what's the line at for this fight? I would put it as not much more of an upset than Forrest dominating Shogun.

I hope I'm wrong about my prediction, I find myself rooting for Shogun, by not by a huge amount, just want a little comeback for the muay Thai bjj combo, especially the old Chute Boxe style.

How so? If there was anytime Shogun was ripe for an upset, it was the Forrest fight. The guy wasnt juiced, hasnt fought in over a year, had shoulder surgery, has never proven himself in the octagon (hate saying that). Forrest is one tough fighter and a huge LHW, he wasnt going to be outstruck and their both overrated BJJs cancels out each other. It was more of the myth of Shogun vs. Forrest that night.

Reality is Shogun is outmatched in every category against Machida

Technically speaking, Machida does out match Shogun. I'm not saying Karate beats Muay Thai, I'm saying that Machida's strikes are delivered with more precision. However, Shogun may have more fight in him than does Machida. The areas that I can't say Machida has an advantage in are heart, chin, and desire. Machida is so good that we haven't found this out.

I'm saving my prediction for the Official Prediction League, brought to you by sugarngold.

If Shogun wins...

Rampage has one successful defense. Forrest has no defenses. Rashad has no defenses. Machida has no defenses. Then Shogun...

If Shogun wins there is simply no best 205er in the world.

Close fight to call, too many are writing off Shogun for my liking tho, if he`s back to his best he will win, he looked smooth vs Chuck.

I`ll be in the minority but fuck it, Shogun by KO :good

Yes there is, his name is Mauricio Rua, everyone loses & the Forrest-Shogun fight was a fluke that would be put right with damaging effect in a rematch. The man was the best 205 lber in MMA when Chuck was at his peak in UFC & Rua was in Pride.

Shogun aint some bum that got his shot by accident... these are the top 2 LHWTs in the world IMO & the winner will be undisputed best at the weight.

:lol:With what Shogun had shown against Forrest and Coleman, hes the one that needs to prove the 3 things you mentioned.

I wouldnt question Lyotos desire and heart, Dana has put everything in front of this man for fear of having an non speaking, uncharismatic champ and he just bulldozed everyone. Hes been passionte at calling out everyone after each of his wins prior to Rashad.

As far as chin, the one time Rashad hit him with a right, he barely flinched and then proceeded to knock Rashad out

He'll hold on to that title for as long as Anderson refuses to take it by will.

Problem with Machida is not with him, but it's the esotericness of his style.

No one can possibly grasp how absurdly difficult what he's doing actually is unless they, in effect, have attempted to do something of the like.

As a belted TKD fighter (former, stopped at age 14), and having added Muay Thai and boxing to my striking form, what Machida does is beyond exceptional and you really can't grasp what he's doing unless you actually try it yourself. And he's only getting better and more acclimated to the Octagon.

Not saying one way or the other, but just putting it out there...

Anderson has said multiple times that while sparring at Chute Box (And they go 100%, they go all out at Chute) Machida would easily get the better of him...

Make of that what you will.
