I posted this question in the boxing fourm. I wanted to see what kind of answers I would get from the MMA fourm.
It seemes rather we like it or not MMA is hear to stay.
Will there be cards that feture both boxing and MMA matches?
Will there be a "Bo Jackson"of Pro fighting? By which I mean will there be anyone who secueds as both a Boxer and as a MMArtist at the same time.
I woulld think that within the next 5 years if not sooner we may see mixed fight cards, but I'm not sure we will ever have a "Bo Jackson" of fighting.

I figured someone would have an opinion.

I doubt there will be many cards with both MMA and boxing matches, at least not at the same live location because of how different the setup is, maybe on the same Telecast though. Even when MMA is a ring, which will be less and less as time goes on, the ring is much bigger than a boxing ring. In Holland and the UK there are fight cards with Kickboxing/Muay Thai and MMA, and in Thailand there are matches with Muay Thai and Boxing on the same card, so there is a little of a precedent, but the rings in the holland have been of the boxing size I believe, which won't happen in the US. In the UK they have gone the opposite way and had kickboxing matches in MMA cages, which while I think it would be perfectly fine, will never happen with boxing.

There almost certainly will be no Bo Jackson's in terms of being at the pinnacle of both sports, since the top tier of either requires training that would hinder your performance in the other. There will of course be guys that are very good at one and decent to fairly good at the other, as there are now with guys like Jens Pulver and Chris Lytle.

Personally, i wouldn't wanna see any merge between boxing and MMA. Let them go their own ways.

Man is blood thirsty by nature. There will always be combat.

The world is evolving and people are trying to get rid of combat.
