Is Carlos Monzon the biggest ever middleweight?

6 foot 2 with shoulders like a heavyweight, he always looked like a lightheavyweight more than a middleweight. Imagine if monzon would of had day before weigh in, he would of been even stronger!!

6'3 Pavlik, 6'1 Hopkins, 6'1 Taylor, 6'3 Nunn and I'd say all were stockier but thats 24hour weigh ins for you, Eubank and Jones were very muscular at the weight and both 5'10-5'11.

Eubank was a beat at SMW let alone MW! If you want ot hear about legendary weight-making difficulties then you should read Eubank's biography!
He had a saying which was: "Training first, health second!"

I always liked Eubank. He was highly disciplined indeed! How he ever made 160lbs is nobody's business!

Even when he moved up to Cruiser he did not look out of place!

What about Dick Tiger for the same day weigh-in era? Supposedly had a lot of trouble making the weight from the beginning and looked quite comfortable at 168-175. Monzon never tested those waters.

Never saw him fight in the flesh,but he was in Carlos Herrera's corner when he fought Maurice Hope,in a great battle.
Monzon had a tracksuit on and did not look imposing at all ,slim and just under 6 foot.Striking Indian face though.He fought tall so may have appeared taller.

I'd say Barkley "looked" the biggest of any MW I'd ever seen.

Benvenuti and Mundine(the original) were both pretty big looking too, although Monzon proved to be stronger than either of them.

Arthur Abraham looks pretty damn big for the weight too.

Turpin was a solid looking guy ,how he made 160 I dont know.
Fullmer too ,while not tall was a lump of a fighter.

in my opinion Carlos Monzon was the greatest middleweight, champion or no in the division's history (as you can probably guess my opinion by my avatar), but I'm not so sure about being physically the biggest..Michael Nunn, Gerald McClellan and Bernard Hopkins were taller, but none were as good...again, my opinion...the thing about Monzon, as has been pointed out earlier was..he wasn't 6'-2", he was 5'-11-1/2", but he fought taller and utilized height and reach better than just about anybody, and just for the record...he never sparred, or probably was even in the same room as Joe Frazier..hell he only fought in the U.S. one time, in '75 against Tony Licata.

None of these guys had the chin, or resiliency of Monzon, except perhaps Hopkins, and again, in terms of "fighting tall", no one can compare to Carlos, except maybe Hearns, and his chin AND defense was inferior to Monzon's.
