MANILA, Philipines -- A former boxer who knocked out boxing champion Manny Pacquiao in 1996, when the latter was just starting his professional career, is now being sought by the police after he was accused of killing a truck driver in Tondo, Manila Tuesday morning.
Former light flyweight boxer Rustico Torrecampo, also known as Dodong Mami, 30, a noodle vendor and resident of Nepomuceno Street in Tondo, was tagged as the prime suspect in the death of Ernesto Ongkit, 54, driver of a Leonel Waste Management truck.
Investigators said the killing happened at 5:45 a.m. at the corner of Velasquez and Capulong Streets.
The victim -- accompanied by his helpers Angelito Ibay and Narciso Rebonario -- was driving the dump truck on Capulong Street and was about to make a turn when he accidentally sideswiped the suspect’s noodle cart, spilling all of his wares on the street.
The police said the suspect tried to talk to the victim but the latter ignored him, driving off in his truck.
This angered Torrecampo, who caught up with the driver at his next stop and stabbed him repeatedly, police added.
The suspect fled after the incident.

This is a Tragic story for Torrecampo.

Pathetic, a boxer using a knife. Why couldnt he just beat up the guy. I understand those noodles may have been very important to him and driver ignoring him might have just edged him but to knife him...
