I think this would have been a fantastic fight. Walcott called fox after his retirement "The greatest fighter I ever faced. There wasnt anything he could not do. I learned so much from my fights with him." Tiger's style was described as a Crouching Colorful Slickster who loved to play possum but hit like a ton of bricks. To me that sounds like a dangerous style. Tiger himself knocked out some very good black heavyweights during his career. I believe from 1936-1938 Tiger established himself as one of the best heavyweights in the world and probably the 2nd best black heavyweight next to Joe Louis.

I have no doubts Joe Louis would have eventually outclassed him... but how would the fight have panned out? might tigers style have given joe fits? Its a shame this fight did not come off.

Wow truelly pathetic. Not one response? Let me tell you Tiger Jack Fox has forgotten more about Boxing than some of these clowns you guys make threads about. We are talking about The best Black vs Black matchup the heavyweight division has seen since a potentially godfrey wills match in the mid 1920s. Louis vs Fox.... An ATG puncher vs a Cutie with a Great punch. What a dream fight here! With great historical Value.

Chill.

I wonder if Tiger Jack might have been one of the more dangerous fights for Louis among the murder row crew.

I don't think for a moment that Franklin, Murray or Ray would have had much chance against Louis because thy would have given him the one thing he fed off. An opponent willing to trade with him.

If there is a joker among the pack then it is sombody like Fox.

Of course Fox is a bit of a George Godfrey figure. Glowing endorsments from knoledgable people at the time but lacking the record that you would associate with them.
