Wasn't there some murmurings last year that boxing may disappear from the Olympics altogether soon? Even possibly London being the last? Buncey also mentioned something about this on air on one of the Setanta shows. Anyone know the latest regarding this?

:rofl:rofl

I have seen afew ladies boxing matches. I wouldnt go out my way to see it and im not just happy to see them box. But the standard can be high and its just like mens except they got boobs and no balls and where a chest guard.

If a girl wants to box is disciplined amnd dedicated let them.

You might be talking about Tyson Fury, contrary to what he says he never won a medal.

Also he is a male just fights like and acts like and has tits like a girl

Well, Amir Khan has dropped himself right in the shit tonight.

He was shown on TV earlier saying how it is a bit cruel for girls to hit each other and he'd rather they didn't do it. Nice Amir, reallllly clever.

He's not the brightest bulb in the pack, is he?

Cue the female media onslaught.

Well done Amir. least his says what he thinks and is too stupid to manipulate his fans a'la Hatton. He's right too, who the fuck wants to see women fighting ? Its the most ungodly thing to see in a pub/club and I certainly dont want it to start spoiling boxing shows. Fuck off back to netball feminist fucks

For the purposes of olympic equality it should be in there. There are about 20 events on at the same time anyway so I just wont watch it. Its wrong on so many differeent levels

I remember hearing abut a fight between two women being cancelled because the pre-fight medical showed that one of the fighters was pregnant! That about sums it up for me

Jack Dempsey
08-13-2009, 04:21 AM
Should they be allowed?, sure why not, you cant discriminate against anyone these days

Do I want to watch it, Fuck no! its shockingly bad like Womens Football (aka Monkey Tennis)

Olympic boxing is a joke these days anyway, the scoring is so ridiculous that every time I try to watch it I end up turning opver in disgust after two rounds !

It is a complete joke that in 2009 it is not already allowed. For fucks sake we send women to Iraq and Afghanistan but they can't compete in boxing.:lol:

I have no interest in watching it, but any girl or woman who has taken up the sport and dedicated herself to training has the right to represent her country and get the chance at achieving something in her chosen field.

Women were once not allowed to run marathons because men felt their bodies could not cope, what a load of shite. Either boxing should not be in the Olympics or it should and both sexes can compete.

Exactly the same as the pro game, either ban boxing or don't. And if it is legal, then womens boxing should be allowed. End of story.

And Khan spoke his mind, he is a Muslim so what do you expect?

I've seen a few women's bouts and a friend of mine is a female fighter (She's a woman, not a man who fights females).

Although I agree women should be allowed to box, ive got to be honest, the fights ive seen have been real scrappy affairs, basically catfights, and I really didnt enjoy watching them.

Sorry.

There are some really talented female fighters out there but the talant pool is so small that getting good competitive fights for the good ones is really hard.

Maybe it being part of the olympics will get more girls into it !

To be totally honest I find it a little hard to enjoy sometimes, I mean I tell myself off for being sexist but for some reason its still there.

I can certainly watch it and enjoy a nice move or a well thrown shot but when a finish comes or someone gets trapped on the ropes I cant get into it the way I would in a guys fight. Maybe I'm more sexist than I think I am :-(

LOL I dunno you're coming accross gutsy enough here ! I guess it's just how we guys are programmed. My wife and I did a bit of shotokan karate and at a tournament a few years ago she got cracked a beaut and bust open her eyebrow ( no big deal really ) I was freaking out , while she came wandering back over after the fight with blood all over her and a big grin on her face.

I suppose fighters wife and girlfriends must feel like that too but we guys arent used to being the ones watching , scared , from the outside.

Fuck it , get yourself down the gym sister :D

It's only fair that women are allowed to box at the Olympics if men are (although I hear they are cutting one of the men's weigh classes to accommodate it, which is a joke:twisted:) but I certainly won't be watching, and I doubt many other people will either.

It's about time. I'm glad to see especially that Katie Taylor is getting so well known; because she's a great boxer. One of my best friends is a woman boxer who trains at the same gym as me; she works harder and takes it more seriously than just about every guy who walks through that door; so I know women are capable of doing it and should have the right to be able to compete in the Olympics.

I knew I'd get pulled for that. There was another (proper) fight in Vegas that night but the Camacho card started eariler from Miami (I think???) so I watched that until the other card started.

Typical PC Britain. I have seen a number of womens fights and it is much like womens football a fucking joke, and a pointless PC gesture. I hope the scoring and judging system changes in the future for the mens game.

0 interest in womens boxing.

How is it PC to allow women to box or play football?

It would be PC to say women and men should compete in mixed teams, but I see nothing PC in allowing women to compete seperately in the sports they choose, especially at the Olympics which has male and female categories for pretty much every sport.
