View Full Version : What's MAB gonna do to increase his chances against Pac?

Some say MAB should 'run' and pick his shots and avoid brawling to get a decision ala the 2nd Juarez 'fight.' This i reckon, won't work as Pac is-- unlike Juarez-- fleetfooted and would soon cut the ring and catch up with him sooner or later.
Others say MAB should surprise Pac by going all out in the early rounds to catch the latter off-guard. Highly risky--and could be fatal for him.
The only feasible recourse that I can see (for which Team Barrera might be contemplating already) at this point is to play it dirty and rough ala Sanchez. This may offset the Pac's rhythm and composure, and may give Marco a little window of opportunity to sneak some killer blows. MAB isn't the cleanest of fighters anyway... He'll still lose, as such tactics would only serve to fuel Pac's wrath even more, but IMO, that is the only way to increase his chances against the Pacster.
What's your take?

I think he needs to mix it up, but stay on his toes, using the jab and countering for the most part. Every once and a while, he needs to get in close, fire off some body shots, and make it a dirty fight on the inside.

MAB should send some 10 hot Latina Chicks to Pac's Hotel suite a night before the fight. Of course he has to deal with Jinky first.
Try to Poison Pac's food.
Be dirty, try to headbutt Pac as early as rd 1 & make sure he cuts him in the eye.
Give Pac 2 low blows in rd 1.

Jab with FORCE. Fight in spurts, tying up when Pacman closes the distance and ultimately, stay circling away from the straight left and towards Manilla Ice, the most overrated punch in the history of the sport.

Seems like a combination of the three scenarios/alternatives i've mentioned.:good

Box, box, box and then when the Mexican machismo says 'here I come', he'll box some more.

Yes, this.
A few taunts/dirty tactics thrown in will go a long way in Maintaining MAB's discipline, so he feels like he's "doing something" rather than physically extending himself for an attack.

I don't think there is anything MAB can do. If he wins, it will be a shock to me.

give as many low blows as he can.

since MAB has a longer reach, i guess he should play from the outside, sidestep to avoid pac's forward attack, and then box again. he needs to pace himself too to be able to last the full 12. this will increase his chances, but will not guarantee a win.

Marquez can do that better more than Marco. Well said. But how long can he do that without wilting from the intense pressure is the real issue...

Hit and run, avoid the pressure of Pac, great box and attack timing, and don't get tired.

I think that Barrera will try to step around Pacquiao and establish a jab to set up counters. The key will be wether or not Pacquiao can pressure Barrera and take him out of his plan.

Some moments of showboating may be well placed. Frustrate PAC, maintain his own confidence etc Like SRL did Hagler. Could work.

If MAB has to cheat to win, he should. Go low with the punches, come in low with the head etc

He might need to hire Laurence Cole to get away with all that.:D

MAB should persuade Pac to commit to a trilogy. And both parties will live happily ever after. :smoke
