i dont think Mercer expected kimbo to fight like that he was expecting the big slow shit boxer to show...if he did show up its have probably been a more interesting fight.

Then Mercer is a fool. Kimbo is a "streat fighter" not a "bare knuckle boxer". The mentality of a street fighter is to win. And three weeks of MMA training is all Kimbo proved to need.

Mercer's not a fool - he probably got a decent check for one minute of work. That's all I think he wanted.

You missed the point. Mercer is not a fool for making money. He is if he thought Kimbo would come into an MMA contest and fight by Marquees of Queensberry rules.
Boxing is a single art. If Mercer was unable to go outside of that then just accept the ass kicking, take the money and have a good day. If his goal was to win then he's a fool

Once again Mercer has embarassed boxing. First is was getting stopped in 20 odd seconds against a kick boxer and now this! What a disgrace.

Even though mercer is 46 i still say get them in queensbury rules he wins.
mercer HAD his chance to strike with kimbo... kimbo was raining down blows onto mercer and all mercer did was cover up against the cage, kimbo just straight up beat his ass from start to finish in every aspect....
thank GOD ray is soooooooooo old, but i still hate that kimbo can now say he beat a warrior like mercer.

He treated it like a boxing match, thinking he'll just block the blows and then counter once Kimbo gassed out. Didnt work out that way though, once Kimbo got bored he took him down.

Mercer was just there to pick up a check. He threw like 3 punches and got Kimbo into some weak ass headlock, that he let go of 2 seconds later.
It was a disgrace.

Zak, stop hating on Kimbo. I don't know what your deal is with MMA, but Kimbo's a warrior and he showed it last night. Anyway, Kimbo's beard is enough to allow him to beat Mercer in a straight boxing match as it would cushion the blows.

MMA is a different sport. Boxing has less moves, that is why its participants are better at punching than MMA people.
People that have Thai boxed have better kicks, and kicking defense. This is because they have practiced their form of striking more.
Greco Roman wrestlers are very dangerous in a clinch, because their sport is limited to upper body holds.
Freestyle wrestlers have good take down defense, because that is what they practice.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are better at submissions, because that is what they do.
MMA incorporates all of these aspects. That is why if you have not rounded out your game, someone may have a different way to beat you. Saying Kimbo should have stood toe toe, and traded with Mercer using only boxing techniques, is a ridiculous argument. It is like saying Michael Jordan should play Shaquille Oneal one on one, and only try to drive to the basket and dunk. Then saying Jordan cheated if he uses a jump shot. Kimbo beat Mercer using the rules provided. If Mercer wanted a boxing match, that is what he should have signed up for.
These boxing vs MMA threads are kind of pointless. It is like arguing, "What is better, baseball or football?"

What does that matter? What does it prove that an Olympic Gold Medalist and Top 10 boxer in his prime would outbox a street fighter in a boxing match? Is that supposed to be a suprise? In a real fight, the winner is pretty clear. Why should Kimbo have to be limited in kicking Mercer's ass just because Kimbo is a much better fighter? Of course Mercer is a better boxer, he has been doing it his entire life. Didn't help him much last night though.
