If GSP moves up to 185 to fight Anderson he should probably fight at least once at 185 before he fights Anderson. How would GSP match up against the other elites at 185? Franklin is a very big guy compared to GSP, though he seems to be gone to 205. It seems very unlikely that GSP would be stronger than Henderson, and GSP almost always finds himself the stronger fighter. Would it even be possible that GSP faces another elite 185 lb fighter before Anderson? It seems likely that if he does fight a fight at 185 before Anderson it would have to be a lower-tier fighter, sort of like Anderson fighting Irving.

So, who could it be?

Hm, interesting quagmire...

Roll the dice in a superfight with Anderson and accept that it won't really hurt your resume win, lose, or draw - or take a "tune-up" dipping your toes in the light heavy waters first and risking two consecutive losses for the longshot reward of a triumphant p4p shocker against Silva...:think

Great fight would be GSP vs Vitor Belfort.

I suppose Bisping would be a sort of Irvin type fight for GSP. :conf

not a good fight for gsp... vitor will be too much for him. vitor is brought back to ufc to challenge anderson silva for the title.

I like the Bisping fight actually. I wonder how big Bisping would look compared to GSP. Probably huge, the guy used to be 205.

I dont know it all depends if Vitor can stop his takedowns.

Too risky. GSP vs Bisping would be good after Bisping gets a win. All they need is one fight up at MW for GSP to dominate and then the Anderson fight will be HUGE!

Vitor Belfort

He does have good takedown but he'll be fighting fighters bigger than him now. I think he'll have a harder time taking down the middleweights. Even if he can take down vitor, he has great jiujitsu and is stronger than gsp.

GSP is a big welterweight, if he comes up to middleweight he'll be the smaller fighter this time. I dont think he can bully the 185lbs the way he did to the 170 lbs fighters.

It's the logical choice imo. I think he is still seen as a legitimate opponent in the MW division and shouldn't pose too many problems to GSP.

Also Bisping is a "striker", or at least was until Hendo got to him. So he is similar in styles to Anderson, by wanting to keep the fight standing and all. I think GSP would maul him honestly. I don't think Bisping is on the level skillwise as Alves, Fitch, Penn, Hughes and kos.

Why not go straight for the no1 at the weight ?
BJ did that with GSP, GSP should do likewise vs Silva, especially if he wants to remain ahead of BJ in the p4p chart.

I understand that. It makes more sense for him to go straight for it, in a way.
