Toney in a split decision that makes Hopkins-Wright look exciting.

These two's styles would have never meshed well.

I agree with the boring fight part except I see bernard taking it. Toney never did very well against guys who gave him angles and movement. He likes for them to come to him so he can play the roll of counter puncher.

Toney was inconsistent @ 160.

Hopkins in his prime wins there, I pick that one with little hesitation.

At 168, well, I think Hopkins could handle the weight well. He eventually moved up to 175. I'm thinking more of the late 90s and early 00s though, when Hopkins was younger, fresher, and had a better workrate.

Toney was more experienced and consistent at 168. They're both crafty, skilled guys so I can a tight, tactical bout on a high skill level. That one I'd pick B-Hop by a close decision.

Even a prime Hopkins? He was alot more exciting, he might bring the fight to him.

Tell me when you think Prime Hopkins is?

I feel it was 94-99. He was more active then and was still a great technical fighter. Now he is an even better and savier technical fighter, but is so inactive in the ring that he is not as good as he was.

I think it would be a decent fight. Hopkins by decision.

If Bernard wants to move up to HW, they could fight now...and Hopkins would blow Toney out.

Good points. I meant younger and more active. I was addressing the "boring fight" point.

I'd pick Hopkins at 160, and Toney at 168 and 175.

It's really a shame that they didn't fight each other...they were talking about it once, but I'm not quite sure what happened there.

Well Toney had a really average run during the mid to late 90's.

A piss run. Many people thought he was totally done, the Jirov win was an exceptional one at that point, one of the best.

Toney's career was really odd when you think about it.

Relentless

They were talking about this fight at light-heavy in 2003-4 .. I remember reading, according to Toney, that Hopkins closed negotiations on this fight .. Toney being the outspoken gentleman he is, called him a "buck-tooth <slang for African American>" .. only Toney could get away with that one! Had the fight happened their press conferences would've have been terrific.

At a catch weight of 180 lbs (Toney could've made that just 3 years ago) I have to give it to JT by UD. Hopkins can bully Wright all night long but he wouldn't get away with that from the rolling counter puncher.
