Nice guy but the beer gut on him was something that some of the locals in my local pub would have been proud of. Pro boxers that have no restraint when it comes to diet really annoy me. When you have enough talent to challenge for world titles but not enough will power to just eat properly then you are wasting an opportunity that so many people would kill to have. Even when I was training for martial arts comps (not on the same level as a pro boxer, I know) I had an immaculate diet, and for literally years without any transgressions. What's wrong with these guys?

Calzaghe...I remember when I first introduced a mate to boxing and it was a Calzaghe fight and my mate said to me, he doesn't look that big for a boxer, and commented on the lack of definition of his muscles. He probably had the best stamina in the game so it isn't a fitness thing. He had a bit more definition when he was younger but even then he wasn't exactly ripped.

Is that just because you don't need to look like a greek god to be in shape, or is it something that was ever present in the newbridge gym, poor nutrition?

Calzaghe could outspeed and outlast almost anyone in his division, im not expert on his dietary habits but id be inclined to say that its just his natural physique, especially given he was still goig strong into his late 30's.

Some fighters just dont have what it takes on the inside to be champions .. They may have the capabilities and skills to be boxers but they're human fraility destroys any chance that they might have ..
Pryce and Rees are on the low end scale of that, they are ok but a guy like Kirkland Laing had the world at his feet, all the boxing ability in the world and he just tossed it away ..

Rees and Pryce were found out against decent fighters and were given no common sense in the corner and no gameplan to work there way out from the jaws of defeat. Enzo Mac didn't spar for the olafobi fight FFS WHAT MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED. Calzaghe Snr fully expected Enzo mac to beat Haye ???? Even Enzo Mac knew he didn't have a chance. what kind of coach puts him in there like a lamb to the slaughter.

Just look at the way Joe Calzaghe cannot do the simplest fundamentals properly. He throws punches like an amateur and his defense was woeful at times. Joe had a fantastic boxing brain and adapted mid fight himself (no better example than the kessler one mate) and had the a superb work rate coupled with fantastic stamina. he'd have been with a coach who wasn't his old man (with no previous boxing experience) he could have been so so so much better.

The one thing Calzaghe Snr could pride himself was getting his lads into shape....look at the way all his fighters (bar joe) gassed in their losses.

Pryce has been out of shape since the early 2000's. This guy started at super feather and for some reason was as high as middleweight. Why this guy is still around i dont know. I mean he CHEATED in a boxing fight, yet because he is an elite boxer this is all glossed over, and don't give me all that shit of him 'not knowing' - just because Pryce and Rees have not led a boxing lifestyle, does not mean they are 'losers', both have accomplished 95% more than what other boxers have in the game.

Countless amounts of boxers have given into temptation during training and some boxers have been charged with offences they have committed. At least Rees and Bradley are man enough to admit to this, can they not be atoned for what they have done in the past?

To be fair I dont know who they should go to. I'm too 'up' on local trainers around those parts to be quite honest. It possibly wouldn't hurt them though to move away from where they are now. Obviously creature comforts and other 'distractions' have turned their heads away from there training on previous occasions, maybe a move wouldn't be a bad idea.

It didn't work for Enzo because as he said himself he was gunshy and just running so low on confidence.

It did work for Khan though. By moving away he got himself out of the 'superstar celebrity' mould and managed to move to a place where nobody knew him and he could get on with what he should have been instead of going to all the glitzy showbiz events.

Enzo Calzaghe is not a good trainer in MY opinion (also a lot of others will agree too). Rees and Pryce were found out against decent fighters and were given no common sense in the corner and no gameplan to work there way out from the jaws of defeat. Enzo Mac didn't spar for the olafobi fight FFS WHAT MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED. Calzaghe Snr fully expected Enzo mac to beat Haye ???? Even Enzo Mac knew he didn't have a chance. what kind of coach puts him in there like a lamb to the slaughter.

Just look at the way Joe Calzaghe cannot do the simplest fundamentals properly. He throws punches like an amateur and his defense was woeful at times. Joe had a fantastic boxing brain and adapted mid fight himself (no better example than the kessler one mate) and had the a superb work rate coupled with fantastic stamina. he'd have been with a coach who wasn't his old man (with no previous boxing experience) he could have been so so so much better.

The one thing Calzaghe Snr could pride himself was getting his lads into shape....look at the way all his fighters (bar joe) gassed in their losses.

Indeed MissP strange one isnt it, could be jelousy, the only reason I can fathom is they resent the boys for the minor misdemeanors of the past which is baffling to say the least for a boxing fan.

They've achieved a heck of a lot more then most, it will be good to see if they can come back effectively without the backing of Sports Network/Frank ****** promotions.
