It's an octagon I believe.

sugarngold

I like how they use the FIght Science graphics to explain the strategies. Pretty cool touch.

Grievesy
08-15-2009, 11:01 PM
Yeah, shame I disagree with their keys thingy. How is the knee key for Ishida. He's a fucking wrestler. I think his key is to stick to his bread and butter and outlast Melendez. He's called the Endless Fighter for a reason.

And for me Melendez' key is the striking. But hey they're the experts.

Club Fighter

The UFC hasn't trademarked the use of it?

Ohhh, I did a quick check. It's a Hexagon. UFC probably has that shit on smash.

sugarngold
08-15-2009, 11:02 PM
I agree with you, G. Shamrock gives strategies like the general forum thinks Teddy Atlas gives strategies - except Atlas' are usually good.

Ohhh, I did a quick check. It's a Hexagon. UFC probably has that shit on smash.

They might - but I remember when ZUFFA bought the uFC back in '01 and they started allowing other orgs to use the octagon cage. They might have changes their policy back since then.

Let's be honest, tho, weed doesn't affect your fighting ability . . . at least not advantageously. Let the man smoke some la.

He kicked the shit out of my predictions.

Same. He had a great gameplan though. He knew all Ishida had was his wrestling and some submissions and so kept the fight standing until they were on the ground on his terms.

Goddam, only 3 of us on ESB actually give a fuck about this shit. If this is any indication of how Americans as a whole feel about Strikeforce then it is destined to go the way of the dinosaur . . . and quick.

sugarngold
08-15-2009, 11:29 PM
Well STRIKEFORCE has been around for a while. They predated the UFC by covering kickboxing back in the day. They're not going to grow to rival the UFC any time soon but they will probably provide a quiet alternative for a while.

Is that a joke? Saying that Mousasi's key to the fight is to armbar Babalu?

And the Pyro just about burned him. Great.

Oh and Babalu's key is to throw a standing elbow? What the hell Frank? Maybe this is why you are losing all your fights now. Mousasi to go for the armbar, and Bablalu to keep it standing? Brilliant.

Grievesy
08-15-2009, 11:32 PM
Is that a joke? Saying that Babalu is going to get armbarred?

Yeah their Keys of the cage shit have been shit all night. Because yeah, Babalu wants to strike with a guy whos bread and butter is kickboxing.

It's almost like the production team assigned graphics to each fighter without knowing anything about them so Frank had to make up some bullshit key to victory to match the graphic.

Gina got her ass kicked. Cyborg started steamrolling her from teh opening bell. Gina showed a lot of heart. She couldn't get her punches off. Should have used her leg kicks more and stayed away from trying to headlock Cyborg.

lol

There;s like five people that cheered Cyborg's victory. At least it was a good scrap.

I don't watch a lot of MMA but i just saw that fight and i say fair play to them two...very good fight. I saw Carano's interview in dressing room and she was nervous she had her hands clenched i think she knew she was coming up against a beast. She should of stayed in the mount but got caught up in emotion. She thought or wanted to bang with Cyborg and she couldn't.

Gina should either consider giving up fighting altogether or actually dedicating herself. She routinely comes in overweight and obviously suffers from poor conditioning. In this regard she reminds me of Shannon Briggs. Although Gina & Cyborg were fighting at a torrid pace, Gina was gassed midway through the first. Honestly, how in the hell would she have been able to complete 3 five minute rounds, let alone 5. That broad needs to prioritize. She's partying too much.

I don't necessarily think it was bad conditioning, I think the event got to her, she tensed up, and it ate her energy up, especially when Cris started mauling her. Unless Carano has a party lifestyle that I haven't heard about, which is very possible, I don't watch MMA much.

Gina hadn't fought for nearly a year apparently and that's not the best way to prepare for your biggest rival at all, before this fight i was thinking she had to adopt a similar strategy to what Anderson employed against Franklin and Forrest i.e stay on the outside and counter, Cyborg is not technical at all, all she does is goes in fists first and swings away, after the first minuet Gina got mount and that's when she should have gone for broke but she foolishly stood up and let Cyborg get up and back into the fight, she was unlucky that it got stopped one second from the bell though, but even if she made it through the round i'm guessing Cyborg would have stopped her eventually because Gina was getting caught with some heavy punches, Gina can come back from this as she wasn't knocked spark out and embarrassed or anything but she needs to dedicate herself more to the game and work on her counter attacks and ground defence,

Another thing, people are raving about that Mousisa guy on sherdog, claiming he could tear up the ufc 205 division, but lets be real he'd get his ass handed to him by Machida and especially Silva and i believe Jon Jones would give him fits too.

I liked the Cyborg Carano fight and was hoping Gina would win, and it looked like she could have at times, but she lost in a very good fight, if this had gone a couple more rounds competitively there probably would be a rematch.

That's just it...the only reason I pay any attention at all to this sport is because of how damned hot Gina Carano is...not because of the "sport"..if she were to quit, I don't know if there are any other females out there that would be worth looking at, the hell if they can fight or not.
