Sydney indoor in November
Have also heard Sydney Cedric - but really wanting to hear Melbourne.
Melbourne have got indoor stadiums of every shape and size, including big (20 odd thousand) and bloody huge (50 plus thousand). We've also got the biggest sports mad public who turn up to events anywhere in Australia.
Any clues on why they are prefering Sydney?

State government support I'd assume.

Can't think of a good reason why the Vic govt couldn't also support it. There'd be plenty of peripheral $$$ for whichever city hosts it.
Perhaps the PPV is going to be such a factor that they aren't that concerned about the number of bums on the stadium seats.

I doubt this will be held in an outddor venue.
A big PPV seller this would be and the yanks will want the whole light show extravaganza rock n roll production going on.
The yanks will have annaurisms trying to comprehend where it could possibly be light anywhere in America at 9:30pm.
The Kostya Tszu fight in Melbourne went indoors with this theme.
A safe sellout out crowd in a indoor stadium (30,000 +) and with all the bells and whistles of an evening production perfect for PPV audience.

Roy is an upstanding bloke..I guess he feels that a city that prides itself on its criminals is not somewhere he should be associated with.

the Government is fronting the Money and Green wants an indoor fight wasn't overly excited with the fight outdoors and the weather playing such a huge part. When you are putting alot of money on the line as the promoter the last thing you want to worry about is RAIN. after his fight with mundine he decided no more big fights he was in charge of would be outdoors.

What are the indoor venues in SYD and how many would they hold?

Acer would hold 25 000 I think Pretty sure it holds 20 000 when the entire floor is used for basketball or whatever i would think you would fit maybe 5000 on the floor. these figures are from memory and i might be wrong but def 20 000 plus a couple more

I read somewhere Green has promised 60,000 to Roy. Anyone see this happening? Obviously if it's indoors then it simply can't happen, but consider barry hall on the under card.. 40,000 - 50,000 perhaps? I'm not so sure.
Doesnt the sports stadium in Syd have a roof that closes???

Barry Hall on the undercard will be of little consequence relating to stadium numbers in Sydney. He might drag 1000- 1500 extra bums maximum. PPV might increase in the Southern AFL states..
If they want 60,000 in the stadium, better let Khoder take care of the tickets. There is simply never going to be a gathering of 60,000 Sydney paying customers to a sporting event.....

Why would you host it in a place like Melbourne?
Sydney is the Australian Capital of Sport.:rasta
I'm pretty sure they said the winner is Sydney..?

You deaf Ranser? The Olympic announcement was clearly:
'and the winner is Sinny'.
Serious note, Melbourne not only have the sporting venues, we actually turn up to them!
The stadium at Docklands Melbourne with the retractable roof (I think it's called Edihad this week) holds 54,000 in AFL football configuration. In a boxing layout most of the playing surface could be utilized as well.
This stadium has already been filled to capacity for a number of different sports including AFL, 'A' league soccer and rugby union (Aus vs Brittish Lions).
We could probably get 20,000 along to the world marbles championship!

I don't think Perth has enough electricity to hold it.
Left in a cab from Perth Casino Nov last year same time as they let the crowd out of the Rianah & Chris Brown concert next door. Spent a bloody fortune in the cab before we got 100 metres in the car park.
99% of the crowd were half dressed bimbos so it wasn't a complete disaster - but our wives kept kicking us for perving!
Conclusion though: not sure if Perth can handle a crowd!

I consider places like Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and anywhere in Tasmania as a bit backward in handling anything remotely important like a super boxing match like this.

Sinny, sorry Sydney is firming:
Announcing the event, NSW Premier Nathan Rees said a number of "pre-fight build-up" events were planned, including appearances by both boxers and public sparring sessions.
"This will be the biggest fight ever staged in Australia and it will be beamed to all points of the globe," he said.
