What's he got left?

Over on the General, as usual, they are going waaay over the top with talk of him fighting all and sundry so thought I'd get a more balanced view here.

I haven't seen the Lacy fight so can't comment, so what do you reckon he has left and what's the maximum you think he can achieve?

Green?
Dawson?
Hopkins?

Where will he go next?

He gets beat by B-Hop, Dawson, Pascal and Cloud at 175 and if he moves up to 200 there's another handful who'll beat him.

he should go to cruiserweight. i would fancy him over everyone in that division until hopkins goes up.

Just watched the Lacy fight, he was very good. I think Lacy played nto his hands by standing in clinch position for most of the fight. He's still good enough to beat Green i'd imagine but it will be a much harder fight.

Green seems the logical choice, and it looks a done deal.

However, if he goes up to Cruiser and has learned his lessons from his last move up in weight, he should stay at Cruiser for good, til the end of his career. Pointless trying to shift weight again.

I'm wondering if this win, and all the hype he is getting, will make him think he can be the top dog at 175 again and target proper world titles at LHW.

It's absolutely ridiculous if he does, there's an absolute gulf in class between guys like Dawson and B-Hop compared to Sheika and Lacy, these guys were B level fighters in their prime and are both shot to pieces now. RJJ is one of my all time favourite fighters, but every time he steps back up to world level fights he's going to get his ass handed to him.

Agree 100%.

Roy has never been short on confidence or belief though, I think all of this hype is going to start getting him believing again, and it'll not be pretty when it comes to an end.

I really dislike him for the showboating, the other night it was just horrible, made him look a dick IMO

Pretty much :good

He can razzle and dazzle at Lacy-level, but up with the big boys he's in for a night of pain.

He should retire about five years ago if possible.

Enough to beat the hell outta the tailor made Jeff Lacy's of this World. He wouldn't have enough left at this stage to win a title.

He plans on moving up to Cruiser to fight Green for a alphabet title. IMO, he'll win it comfortably and, if he chooses to stay at Cruiser, (which I'm sure he won't) for me he's one of the best in that division- albeit cruiser being a pretty dead diviosn aside from Cunningham and Adamek.

At present, he's still one of the best at 175 out there IMO- although he is now probably going to end up as a 'gatekeeper':good.

Even though he is far past his best, he is still a B- fighter. I think if he is matched well then he could get a couple more victories.

Roy is shot to shit, its only because he was such a phenom that he's even able to continue to compete and dominate b level fighters.

the man should just cash out and hang them gloves up, the thing is because Roy was a athletic phenom, his prime was gonna be spectacular but the fall was always gonna be big. Moving up to heavyweight at that age and putting on all that muscle then stripping it so soon brought on his demise quicker.

Once his athleticism went he was gonna struggle because he never had the fundamantal base to fall back on unlike people like bernard and toney who remain relevent without that roy jones fade.

Having said that Roy can still beat and compete with many fighters at 175 apart from the very elite, bad chad would've give the prime roy jones problems with his style and distroys him at this stage. If roy is to continue then i won't mind if he just picked fighters like lacy and other B levels, because then he make money, not get hurt and satisfy whatever crave he still has, but we all know he'll beat a couple more b levelers, get a big fight, get beatup and then "rebuild" again and thats the worry.

Someone has just made a thread saying he would smash Hopkins. This place is unbelievable at times.

Roy Jones is one of the most amazingly talented fighters I've ever seen in his day. Now his day is long gone. I really don't want to see him box anymore, because it's just a matter of time before something bad happens to him.

Sure he looks good when facing a blown up, inactive Trinidad or Jeff Lacy, who has been a walking punchbag for several years now. It is opposition that is carefully and delibirately selected.

If he can still beat up the Jeff Lacy's of this world with absolute ease, he could probably compete with the lower top 10 175lb'ers and certainly Danny Green.

So he's not exactly shot or there are a lot of shot fighters by those standards, it just seems that way because its such a fall from his prime years.
