Possibly the first in an intermittent series, heres some stuff that fell off the grapevine in front of me...

* Which former World Heavyweight Champ who is fighting soon has been sounding out some of the local boys for a fight on an undercard bout?

When one of those contacted said yes, the reply was "No thanks, too risky!"

* Which famous boxing commentator will be hitting our shores in the next few months? He always has a cheerful hello for all his friends in Australia. Maybe he'll even turn up on a Fox card for a chat, or even better to call a fight or two.

* Which local fight collector/cameraman/editor has been hounded day and night with calls from international supermodels begging him to go on round the world all expenses paid tours with them. Unfortunately for them this man amongst men has turned them down saying he has important work to do on ESB.


One of the above rumours MAY not be totally correct.

Did you go to see Dark Age with Tarantino Leon?

It features in Not Quite Hollywood and was a fucking blinder. Very few prints of the film out but should be on DVD next year. One of the best Aussie flicks of them all... bout a giant crock attacking people, in a similar vein to Rogue, but much funnier and exploitative.

Had not heard of Not Quite Hollywood - looks like fun.

I seem to recall that in the 80's there was a taxation clause intended to 'stimulate' the Aussie film industry. From what I understand it was structured in such a way that it was impossible to make a loss form an investment in Aussie film. Hence a queue of money laundering Alan Bond wannabe's pumping out classic cinema.

Shit even Austen Tayshus got in on the act - a film so bad that we loved it. The best bit of it was the blurb on the video cover:

PCE...Havn't seen it but was aware of it before NQH...one of my favourites earned a re-release last year, 'The Man From Hong Kong'. Was hoping to catch the recent re-release of 'Wake in Fright' but seems to have missed Perth.
