Arena's night of the "Rising Stars" in Lübeck's Hansehalle finally has a real main event. On September 21st Olympic heavyweight gold medallist Odlanier Solis (27) faces US-ring veteran Ross Puritty (40) in his 4th professional fight. By sending his heavyweight jewel Solis into the ring with "Ross, the Boss" arena-CEO Ahmet Öner continues his policy to give the Cuban "real" opponents instead of building up his record with bush-league journey men.

In his first three pro-fights three-times amateur World champion Solis beat reigning German heavyweight champion Andreas Sidon (record 32-7-0), strong Ukrainian Alex Mazikin (10-1-0) and Sweden's Aldo Colliander (12-1-0) which took Solis straight to position no. 38 in the WBC world rankings.

Öner: "Solis is too good to beat up guys who lost 55 out of 57 fights. He needs real challenges. Puritty is a strong opponent but he will have no chance against the power, speed and precision of Solis."

Puritty - a fighter with a heart of gold and a head of steel. The former WBC International Champion won 30 fights and lost only three times before the final bell. On December 12th 1998 he shocked the boxing world by tko-ing Wladimir Klitschko in round 11. It was Wlad's first loss in his 25th fight. Five years later Vitali Klitschko took revenge for his younger brother by stopping Puritty in round 11.

What does Solis think about his next opponent? "My manager chose him, so I'll fight him. To become World Champion I got to beat everybody who crosses my way. Puritty won't stop me."

Since I am going to watch Solis' next fight live almost daily I look for new info about his next opponent. Not easy to find a decent foe for Solis anymore!
His reputation is quite known among almost all journeymen on this planet by now! Nobody fights Solis for a handful of peanuts anymore!
I hope that his promoter wont be tha mean and spend some bucks on a decent opponent so that I can enjoy watching Solis doing his job for more than 1 or 2 rounds!

all you solis nuggethuggers are going to be so dissapointed down the track believe me! he's to small to make waves aginst real top heavies he's to fat and out of shape really should be at cruiser and he fights so much like an amatuer and to be honest he fights like he doesnt even have a trainer!

Better a "nuthugger", than a hater like you. When Solis trains seriously, he definitely can win a belt...

For me Povetkin and Solis are future of heavyweight and will dominante in the coming years.

well, it wound up being Marcus McGee. But Solis is making real waves. Interested to see whom he will fight next week (if it happens). Solis first year opponents are better than Povetkin's even.

I personally think David Haye would smash this guy to pieces.

David Haye had to be rescued against Solis in the Amature Championships, he beat the shit out of him

Right now Haye would beat this version of Solis, no doubt. But if (and that's a big if) Solis can get himself in shape again, it's a different story. Solis has more natural talent and ability than Haye, Haye is a lot of hype and was already exposed anyway.

He did not beat the shit out of him at all mate

Solis is a bloated (literally) cruiser and won't have the stamina or strength to be a top ten contender in what is the most piss poor Heavyweight division EVER.

watch the tape bro, counted 3 times... thats enough
