I'm not a Hoya fan but I like that an actual boxer owns the magazines...smart move...I just hope it doesn't turn bias and start favoring GBP fighters...for example the P4p and division rankings. What do you guys think?

We discussed it alot earlier today in some other threads.

BTW I have a question for you....did you read the ESB Rankings thread by Lampley.

Is it possible that we could get the final product stickied and run it in the forum? You're a mod so I figured you or one of the others would be the ones to ask.

Let me tell Lampley as he spearheaded this along with Cross Trainer and Decebal (I helped a bit).

I believe Lampley came up with the idea based on the news that GBP bought Ring and fear of the objectivity potentially being lost.

Thanks Carlos.

Just wanted to say thanks a bunch, Carlos. I think this thing could be a lot of fun for the board and a way to reward some of the great posters on the site with some deserved recognition.

If we can keep it selective, it will be unlike any other set of rankings out there -- diverse and expert, without corruption.

The bias will be ridiculous.

All I can say is it's a good thing I've never taken Ring magazine seriously to begin with. They will be an even bigger circus act under GBP.

Initially it seemed like a good mover, but the more I think about it, the worse the moves begins to look.
GBP is a business, and like any business it's out to make money. The mag will heavily feature Oscar fighters and hype up their upcoming fights. Who knows? Maybe even the rankings will be influenced...the move's just got 'vested interest' written all over it.

What do you guys think? There goes the impartiality of ring magazine(if there was such a thing). Even if the editorial dept is run by a trust, the hiring and firing...and threat of such, is controlled by the company. Just like MSNBC will do lots of investigative journalism on Microsoft or GE.

This just comfirms what I have been preaching about the influence of American promoters in the boxing media.

Potentially Oscar's RingŪ could be huge in 2008.

If he ever ends up in a prison shower it'll be bigger than a wizards sleeve!:hey
