Watch this new Flyweight Pinoy Prospect Jonathan Taconing. Only 2 wins, 2 1st rd KOs. This guy is quick & have a full arsenal of Punches already. His quickness & velocity of his left Punch reminds me of a young Pac but this guy got a lethal right hook already.
I've been watching Telefutura fight since 2004 & very few times I can find a Good & exciting Prospect there. This past few years Philippine boxing are producing very good & exciting Prospects, Notably Bautista, Banal, Concepcion, Glenn Gonzales & now this guy Taconing. Watchout for this guy he's something special.

I need to see a couple more of his upcoming fights before making the call of a Good Prospect. He never really hurt the guy he was fighting - but I guess the Ref. decided that 3 knock downs in the first round was enough. The guy got right back up after every knock down. After a couple more fights - and we see how he does after getting pass round 1 - then I'll make my judgement.

This is just his 2nd fight but he's shown a lot already in one rd. His style almost the same as Concepcion.

How about give me a video of a prospect that you are impressed of with just 2 fights in his resume???
Valero is already a Title Holder & 22-0 record but this guy shows more skills than Valero.

LOL...The kid doesn't show more skill than Valero Pac....he shows that he has ALOT of improvments to make but he looks promising. he shows he's relentless although very open to counter hooks and straight lefts or rights. And he show's that he has a good arsenal of punches.
But he throws very wide, he's pretty straight up when he fights and he doesn't use any angles to open up opportunities that are there. He doesn't utilize his Jab to set up his bombs and he leads with his head.
Like I said...it's only his second pro fight....you can't judge him and make such a sizeable claim that he has more skill than the current WBA champion Valero.
He can get better but he's not anywhere near the level of PAC or Valero at this point.

I don't know about Puerto Rico but Mexico shits all over the Philipines in boxing.
Mexico > pI always have and always will.
Mexico has a deeper history with boxing than the Philipines do. But we are seeing a lot of great talent coming out of the Philipines and giving Mexican fighters great competition....In the World cup there were great and even matches from both countries and the Philipines came out on top this time round. I'm sure there are MORE talented and skilled fighters out of Mexico but the Philipines are coming on strong and shouldn't be discarded so quickly as inferior.

That's true. PI Boxing is coming up and I have much love for darchinyan killer Nonito Donaire.
Jonathan Taconing seems decent but I think Giovanni Segura would beat him.
Gotta check Giovanni out! Any youtube footage on him?

I'm not that impressed. He's always open for counter left hook. Just decent speed & Power.
On Taconing I see he has special combination of speed & Power for a Flyweight. The only drawback is he's a short guy only 5'1". Hope he grows up a couple or more inches.

09-13-2007, 05:45 PM
Sorry bro, there's only a 20 second footage of him on youtube given that he's just an up n coming prospect but you can check him out on Telefutura sometimes. The little guy is a knockout artist and is pretty highly regarded as a Mexican prospect.
Segura is good, I saw him many times at Telefutura. Power is good but his speed is just Normal.
But on excitement level, only Ponce de leon who I rated high on among Telefutura alumni. I thought Paez Jr could go Places but his chin let him down. Juanma also is Good but his speed & excitement level is a let down too. Now they're trying to Hype Abner Mares but I don't see anything he is Special of. He's ajust a decent Prospect.
Now on excitement level Philippine Boxing are way ahead of Telefutura or any Mexican Boxing shows.

On top of this, Mijares is a legit top 10, as is the highly underrated Ivan Calderon.

They rating are computer generated & favors the recently active fighters. After Pac KOed MAB again, watchout He's be #1 P4P again in their Ratings. Don't care much about their rating but you can't deny the accuracy of fighters record. Now tell me did Proksa fought tough opponents or Bums???

What I bring is Proksa's record to prove a point that Banal has a better record. Then when I check Proksa he fought mostly bums. Then I make the other guy go away Crying. You came to the rescue & end up being Owned!!!!:hi:
Owned Owned Owned....Asked to prove it? No, Pinoy Power!!....right? I would kick your ass:deal
Sounds like a chicken to me.
When you're ready to stop hiding behind your own bravado, let me know.
I pick underdogs all the time....just cuz I don't relay them to you isn't really important.
Tell you what....Dawson will win his fight. What do you want to wager PacD?

I became arrogant if the guy in front of acts arrogant first. You've been an ass since the first time I'm post here KG. But I enjoy every moment of it.
Nah, you were arrogant from jump calling me stupid for not believing in Pac.
You don't enjoy every minute...thats why you are always yelling and getting mad and saying the things you do. I make you angry. :deal

PacDbest...off topic, but what is your opinion on AJ Banal? From what I hear, he is the most impressive Filipino prospect.
Here's another Prospect, Glenn Gonzales

I picked Dawson cuz he is the best LHW in the world and he has been on my p4p list since he beat Adamek. I don't pick underdogs if I don't think he will win....do you?
I picked Barrera to beat Hamed. I picked Hopkins to beat Trinidad, I picked Calzaghe to beat Lacy.
Nope not mad. But I am waiting for you to man up and take the challenge I offered. But I know you won't. You know you won't win. I don't tell you I own you....I never have had to say it.
1 week to 4 weeks? If you believe in your fighter so much, you will take the same punishment as I do if you lose.

If you go back and read what you wrote i simply answered your question about the original fighter in this thread.
You asked to be shown another fighter that looks good at his second fight and i did.You had to go on and try and "1 up me" by bringing up somebody else.
It's not always a pissing contest!
Own is something you do to yourself thread after thread.

On a side note, you should take a look at the Stickied thread at the top of the page on the ESB rankings and the constitution. You may enjoy the idea.

That's how betting goes. If it's a pickem fight it's ok to be 1 on 1 but this fight is not. If you are sure about Dawson why not take my bet.

Besides, you turned me down for an open debate, and now want to dictate terms on a bet? Please....if you are so sure, take the bet on even terms.

How many Participated on that voting??? most members here have their own bandwagon, Own agenda, no time to read that long complicated Process like that. It will be no different than Rings, espn or any webste Rankings. Let me know if about 70% members participated & I might waste time reading that.
Look at the Nonito-Darchinyan Prediction thread, about more than 95% thought Darchinyan would win easy. Me & ESBoxer are the only openly pick Nonito to win. There's some bias on this forum. What if I invite half of the Pacland members to join the voting here??? I'm sure it will tiff the balance to all Pinoy Boxers. What's important is who actually won among fighters. That's how Rings rate fighters & I just stick to the ratings.

No one has participated. Try reading the thread. There has been no voting.
We are electing a committee so it wouldn't tip the voting in any way...you can invite Pacland if you wish because it wouldn't do anything but guarantee a Pinoy on the panel. That may be a good thing as I am sure you want to be represented fairly.
Like I said, read it. And Ring was just bought by a promoter, thus the reason this idea was started. Their rankings may be compromised.
We will be rating on who actually won the fights....how else would we rank.
You don't want to join, cool. Just thought since you like to give rankings and prospects, you might be interested.

But we are just a minority among the Boxing world. And we are allowing such Moron as sush as allblack to Vote. Ring collects vote from their writers & Boxing personalities who is more credible than most members here.

Its long and hard to explain but I will give it a go.
Basically there will be an open vote where you can nominate 2 posters to be on the original 24 member committee (it will expand later on)
Then the 24 members nominated will give their rankings for each weight class. Using a points system, 100 pts for a 1st place vote, 90 for second, and so on, fighters will be rated combining everyones rankings. Then we will rank them overall to form ESB's rankings.
So even if All Black who is one of the more biased people here voted, he could only nominate 2 people...and wouldn't effect the rankings at all because it is unlikely he would garner enough votes to get on the committee to do the rankings.
Thats the jist, but Lampley wrote up a great constitution which he is still revising which is more concise and may better explain it. Take a look.

Ah, yes another "pinoy prospect" just like Bautista,Jaca,Gorrez,Mayol,Viloria,Suico,Allanic, all exposed by mexicans. You are so blinded by your nuthugging of pinoy fighters, that it's pathetic. It's cool that you support your boxers, but damn you take it to another level.Man seriously how old are you?

No one is impressive in only 2 fights!...tons of fighters start off beating early competition because they fight opponents with 2nd jobs at first.......wait til he build up more wins against better compe before the word prospect is even used

Taconing fought a Debuting fighter, He was 1-0 going in. so basically it's an even fight. But I don't based my observetion on his record but based it on what Skills, power & speed he's shown. I've seen Floyd 2nd fight & he struggled with a Bum lefty. Taconing is not even threathened & shows a Variety of punches already. And that after fight Show off he does makes him a Charismatic fighter.

yeah bautista, jaca, viloria and suico were exposed but not gorres. imo, gorres did beat montiel if not for viruet who slapped gorres of deductions without a single warning. talking of robbery at his own turf.
also mayol is still young and raw and could bounce from his loss. he got careless with solis.
bautista is also raw but his chin has some issue. if he can improve on his defense just like what luisito espinosa did, he can still be a champion.

Bautista also needs to work on an offensive arsenal that doesn't leave him so open to counters. Tighten it up a bit. His hooks are a little wide and needs to be shortened.

this is why he got clobbered by penalosa in sparring before the philippines-mexico cup and eventually him being exposed by de leon.
about de leon, man i was surprised with that straight. i am not aware that he has that because i find him clumsy with his wide shots during his penalosa match.

Just to let you know if Viruet would have not taken those points away it would have still been a draw, and Montiel would have kept his title. But I'm not trying to disrepect your boxers,I guess I got carried away but I really admire and respect pinoy boxers.I think it's to early to tell if this guy has a good future though.
