I think he will win and i think his fight with Miranda is probally fight of the year so far, But are people overhyping him on one fight not to mention completly underestimating Jermaine Taylor who despite the closeness of the fights with Hopkins did Better against Hopkins then Wright and Tarver, Also People should get of Taylors back about not fighting the best gives Hopkins a return Match straight away, Fought Wright when everyone had Wright top 3 p4p took a easy fight with Ouma i cant defend him for fighting Spinks though. But i feel Kelly is getting a little overhyped Jeff Lacy style.

We'll find out real soon. But to be honest, I think Kelly is the real deal with all the attributes to make him a great Champion.

yes, he is when people say he could go up to '68 and KO Bute, Calzaghe and Kessler. I have no problems with people saying he can destroy taylor 'cause Kellys style, at least to me, is bad for Taylor cause Taylor doesn't like pressure and add knockout power to that

JETSKI!
You're completely in love with Kelly, right? You're crazy about him the way you were crazy about Adamek. If Taylor beats Kelly that would really break your heart..right?

Don't even want to think about that. But I'm confident KP will get the job done on 9-29.

Only time will tell.
It will most likely be an action packed fight, so I'm really looking forward to this fight.:smoke
I think taylor will outbox and outwork pavlik for about the first 7 rounds and after that the fight will get interesting, but i think when its all said and done taylor will win a ud,only because he will put the early rounds in the bank.Kelly will have his moments late in the fight, but i think he will come up a lil short, this fight could end up being fight of the year.

I think it's not people overhyping Pavlik but rather people just not giving JT enough credit. It's amazing how so many people talk about him as if he's done absolutely nothing. Maybe people would respect him more if one of the Hopkins decisions went to Hopkins.
I think Taylor wins this one quite easily.
Yes, Pavlik is definitely being overhyped. That being said, as Jetski put it there's a chance Pavlik has improved coming into his first ever title fight and he could be the next MW champ. Taylor is also overrated as a fighter, so I don't see the upset as unatainable by any means. Still, as it stands, Pavlik is an unproven quantity coming up against a boxer whose limitations we know all too well.

On the basis of the Miranda fight, Kelly has been getting a lot of hype, especially here on East Side.Sure, Pavlick did a great job against the one dimensional Edison, but Taylor is a whole different package of noodles.Jermain has been feeling the sting of a lot of critisism lately, and Pavlick will be the perfect opponent to unload his frustration on.Not to say Pavlicks a bum, or even that he won't have a great career. But Taylors ready for him, and the middleweight title won't be changing hands this year.

Well, everyone has to prove their worth sometime & this is what KP's been working so hard for. He's real hungry & all the pressure is on Taylor.
I'm going to AC for this one. Sure, I'm nervous as hell. But at the same time, feel very confident for a Pavlik victory.

Personally I don't think Kelly Pavlik is over-hyped at all. Lots of people act as if Miranda is the only notable opponent he's ever beat. The truth is, while he does not have experience with elite level fighters, he has definitely made his bones!
Brewer TKO in 2
Zuniga TKO in 9
McKart TKO in 6
Zertuche KO in 8
Miranda TKO in 7
I'll grant that none of these guys are world class, but they can all fight! Brewer went the distance with JT, but Kelly needed only 2 rounds to dispose of him. McKart gave winky all he wanted and then some TWICE. Kelly took Mckart out in 6 rounds. Prior to that Bronco had NEVER EVEN BEEN DOWN! My point is that Kelly doesn't just beat his opponents; he destroys them and makes it look easy!
JT has a lot of detractors who don't give him enough credit. So does Kelly. I think this is going to be Kelly's toughest fight, and it may also be JT's toughest. Taylor has NO CHANCE against Pavlik in a war, but if he goes in with a good plan to box his way to a decision, and then carefully executes that plan, he can win.

Exactly right, this is Pavlik's chance to prove that he is not just another padded record. It's all or nothing for the kid, right now.
I will be cheering for him as well Jets. :good

the dude got his title shot the right way, by earning it in the ring and putting on a show in doing so. . . . Boxing needs more Pavliks.

Is Kelly being a little Overhyped
Not really . . . or maybe yes, but only in this board. :D
Notice the odds for the fight? JT is still the favorite. :yep

:happy Ding. We have a winner. Amazing how people forget the past and that he fought and was 2-0-1 against two world class opponents who are head a shoulders above Kelly.

It isn't that they forget he has wins over both Wright and Hopkins, who respectively should be higher P4P than Pavlik.
What they remember however is that Taylor BARELY got by a 40 year old Bernard Hopkins, as well as an aging Winky Wright whom Sam Sollimon virtually took to task.
Alot of us on this board had Taylor pegged as a guy who would struggle with Edison Miranda. I still believe this is the case. Taylor has never faced a big, young middleweight who will bring the pressure AND power to him. Just think he was momentarily hurt by Hopkins. Pavlik hits significantly harder than Hopkins.
So yes, he fought two aging tactical masters, and brought the W on his youth and energy. This time he is going in with a guy who is just as young, who hits harder and has just as much energy if not more. And who can really say if Taylor learned anything from his three matches in P4P land. He sure didn't show it against Cory Spinks.

at this point pav is being way to hyped. if he beats jt like miranda than i will say the hype was correct, but till than.....
As I said only on this board. Pav is the underdog in their incoming fight. You can say that indeed he is over HYPED if the odds tags him as the favorite.
He's not getting overhyped, his fans are telling it like it is, he's a fighter with not much skill but has heart/chin/power and is very aggressive. No one is saying he's Muhammad Ali, just a tough aggressive fighter which he truly is.

I do not think that Kelly is over hyped, he is the number 1 contender and he is deserving of what he is getting.
That being said, Taylor TKO7
He has earned his shot way more than most any fighter around has. He is number one. Taylor tried to outprice him and lowball him. Pavlik took it! He wants it!

Believe it or not there a quite a few of us Pavlik fans that have saw much more than just his fight with Miranda. To me he had the same effect as Andy Lee has on a lot of people, when I first saw him a long time ago, it was just something you could see WAS there, you just knew this dude was going to be around. I think he can beat Taylor, but I do not underestimate Taylor.

He is not overhyped by most fans, regardless if they pick him over Taylor. Those who say he knocks out Dawson, Calzaghe, Hopkins, and Kessler are overhyping him (for the moment).

The more I think about it I dont get it "Kelly=overhyped". Is this because you see people simply picking him to win against Taylor? What if no one nowhere gave Kelly even a snowball's chance in hell, then would he be underhyped??
Could You Imagine What People On Here Would Say If Floyd Mayweather Was 31 And 0 With 28 Jacks???????????????

I hear that. From what I understand they gave Kelly chump change end of the deal and he took it any way. People sittin round wonderin why people like Pavlik.:-(

Kelly is the real deal when it comes to punching power and the ability to take a punch. But I still think there is a little way when it comes down to his boxing skills. Taylor 12 round UD.

I have never seen Taylor look impressive, I think he's ready for the taking. Bad intentions??? You must be kidding me, he looks like he doesn't want to fight.
Pavlik showed everything in defeating Miranda, I cannot see how he can lose to Taylor. (Apart from being shafted!)

If anything Miranda was overhyped, on this board especially. I like Taylor but he's looked like crap for awhile now & Pavlik has looked awesome recently plus I think he answered any chin questions in the Miranda fight. I'll go with Pavlik. Overhyped? maybe, but I think people are just excited about an exciting fighter getting his big shot.

Pavlik DESERVES some attention.
This man deserves all the hype he is getting!

He's not overhyped. You can measure the overhype thing by fans. Kelly's fans are OK. You won't find any of them saying Pavlik KO3 Hagler and making hundrets of threads about how he would compete with prime Mike Tyson.
Yes I do think he is overrated. We will also see the best performance from Taylor in that fight, that's my guess.
