For my fellow Detroiters, last Friday's card featuring the bouts of Tua, Rahman, and Vernon Paris is being shown tonight on Fox Sports in Detroit at 8:00 PM. Just in case you are interested. I'm looking forward to checking out Paris.

You're welcome. You know I had you and Ray Ray in mind when I posted that. :D
Also on the local front: I don't know if you are familiar with Detroit fighter Corey "Prime Time" Johnson, but he's in action tonight in an untelevised fight in Pittsburgh against Lajuan Simon. Johnson is past his prime (no pun intended) but he was a decent fighter in his day at 147 and 140. He's 34-3-2, with losses to Kostya Tszyu and Stevie Johnston. He's up to Super Middle now, though. I know Corey a little bit; I hope he does a good job tonight.

Watching the first round of the Tua fight, I'd say Tua looks better than he has in recent fights. That Fox guy sure throws some wide punches doesn't he? He's open for a counter everytime he punches. I can see why this one ended as it did.

Agreed Sam....I think its a little much to say that Tua is "back" because he knocked this guy out...theres two heavyweigths at my gym who could knock that Fox guy out, lol.

Yeah, Fox was throwing some wild shots in there and he apparently never heard the rule about keeping your hands up to protect yourself.

Holy cow, Patrick Byrd's MOTHER is working his corner for his fight with Paris! I don't think I have ever seen that before.

Paris is very impressive....good shoulder roll defense, nice counter puncher, good body puncher, and so far, he has shown good power. If he can continue to improve, he can go places. I've seen boxing writers compare him to some excellent fighters.
I could see Fox's punches coming in my sleep!

He's got fast hands, too. Probably needs to tighten up his defense as he steps up in class, but that punching was impressive. Those body shots he landed on Byrd looked like they hurt.
Nice of Paris to show a little sportsmanship after the fight, shaking hands with Byrd's corner and hugging his Mom. (I still can't get over the fact that Mom works Byrd's corner. )

Saying Fox telegraphs his punches is an insult to Telegraph Road. (A joke only Detroiters would truly appreciate.)

Yup, I got the PM:good I'll do my best to try and make it. I love going to amateur fight cards, although it's been a while since I've gone to one.

Rahman looks better than he did a few months ago in New York when he beat Sykes by UD, but I still feel like he owes me forty bucks for the tickets I bought for that fight.
Ryan, while more technically sound than Fox, certainly seemed in over his head against the Rock.
Hasim still needs to drop another 10-15 pounds.
