UFC in big trouble with their battle against Manny Pacquiao on November 14th
On November 14th the UFC and Manny Pacquiao are going head to head in the second installment of boxing vs. MMA 2009. And as of this moment, the UFC is in big trouble. With about 2 months left, all signs point to Pacquiao winning by an early round KO over the UFC...

tthe UFC card is quite weak.
Pac vs Floyd to compare to UFC's strongest card would be something to write about.
UFC 105 is weak.

Their biggest up and coming card is 104, which is lucky to not be challenged. I dunno if I could've picked between Pacquiao/Cotto and Machida/Rua.
Well, I would of easily picked Pac and Cotto and taped Machida/Rua but the point still stands.

Maybe UFC conceded that they can't do battle against a Pacquiao headlined boxing PPV card...;)

UFC should get its ass kicked come Nov 14th

Lets not be bothered by which event is going to be a blockbuster. Its not like we're promoting the fights. we should be happy since live stream will be much faster having the fans divided watching their own preference=)

UFC 105 is held in England. So that means the live broadcast will be in the afternoon in the United States. So it is not actually in direct competition with Pac vs Cotto at all. And it is not even a PPV. It's free on Spike TV.
Dana White isn't that stupid. He'll battle Floyd vs JMM, but he knows better than to do such a thing against Pac vs Cotto. And yes the UFC 105 card is very weak at the moment, but the main event has yet to be named.

I think Floyd vs JMM will sell more PPV's than UFC 103. I may be wrong, but I just think with the strong Mexican boxing fanbase backing Marquez and a general public interest in seeing Mayweather's first fight back from retirement, it will generate more buys than UFC 103, which has a very weak overall card, especially the shitty main event.

Did you read the linked articles at all??... The author mentioned all of that including UFC 105 venue... The author further indicated that UFC 105 will be aired in the US on tape delay...
The author just pointed out that UFC can't do battle with boxing on Nov. 14th even if it plan to compete at all...;)

Seems like that UFC is more for the UK market.
Both the fall clashes with UFC and boxing PPVs have fairly weak UFC cards.

I like it how all credit is going to Manny Pacquiao. Silly Pactards. There are other fighters on that bill you know, namely Miguel Cotto - who will have a huge following going to the fight too. :verysad

There is a reason Pacquiao reportedly gets 65% share. If PPV fails, he gets all the demerits as well just like Floyd.

Oscar De La Hoya would sell more tickets than Pacquiao even if he wasn't rated on the P4P list. It has nothing to do with it.
I have no issues with attributing a lot of the sales to Manny Pacquiao, but Miguel Cotto is his opponent - and he brings a lot to table aswell.

49 year old Ray Mercer destroyed Tim Sylvia - one of UFCs top boys and that shows you how skilled that sport is. Mercer was excellent in his day but imagine what would happen to him if he got in the ring with the klitchkos now. I know there boring but i would still bet theyd do a number on Mercer now.

Something that most people here might not realize is that most fans and a lot of huge UFC fans just don't know who Fedor is. My buddy is a HUGE UFC fan. When I saw bodog running a line on a fedor vs lesnar fight, I emailed him about it. He was vaguely aware of Fedor and his thoughts where that Lesnar would kill him. So if real UFC fans are only vaguely aware of Fedor, without a lot of money spent on advertising, this wouldn't be that big of a fight.

Then you don't really like the UFC. If you did, you'd want to see it do as well as possible, even if boxing does better from time to time.
I thing hardcore boxing fans that hate MMA are seeing the success mma is having and go on a witch hunt in the general forum looking for support from each other.

Yep, ODL was the big ppv draw for boxing Pac has certainly raised his stock from his last 2 fights and might get some bigger numbers.
cotto and even PBF arn't huge draws and not to mention boxing events are mostly just 1 fight draws as opposed to UFC who try to put on a good card as a whole.

You do realize that you just made my argument for me right? You claim the UFC is battling Pac, but now you're agreeing with me that White wouldn't counterprogram Pac directly. Well, uhm... which is it? Thanks for making my argument for me though.. I thought you were supposed to argue my point, not agree with it. :nut
A UFC event for free on Spike, held in the UK, with a start time probably at least 5 hours before the start time for the Pac/Cotto card... that is not a "battle". And even if you consider airing the UFC event on tape delay as a "battle" ... well if the "battle" is purely based on how many people will be watching, then I actually think there will be more people watching the free UFC card than people paying $50 for the Pac fight. Either way, the UFC is far from in trouble like you are trying to argue.
If the UFC card was on PPV or if it was actually live being aired side to side with Pac vs Cotto, then you would have an argument. But since it's not, you don't.

Huh? :huh There's no more competition between boxing and MMA on which sport discipline gets the bigger audience??:huh
Any boxing card and MMA card held on the same day will be considered a battle of boxing vs. MMA... Even fight cards held on different dates were compared just to discuss on who has the greater fans following...
On November 14, it seems MMA conceded that they can't compete with the PAC-Cotto PPV card... :hi:
Unlike this coming September 19 where the expected boring Floyd-JMM tuneup, mismatch fight will have tight competition from UFC 103...
