OSCAR DE LA HOYA has told Ricky Hatton: You’re next! ‘Golden Boy’ De La Hoya said he will face Brit Hatton if he beats Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas tonight.
Hatton sent De La Hoya a ‘Good Luck and God Bless’ message before the WBC light-middleweight title fight.
It is the biggest bout of all time and is set to generate £66million.
De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions reckon 50,000 paying customers will see the fight live in Vegas alone.
The 17,000 MGM Grand Casino is sold out and thousands will watch at closed-circuit spots along the Strip.
Ticket sales have generated a record £10million — the previous high was £8.3million for the 1999 heavyweight rematch between Lennox Lewis and
Evander Holyfield. Some ringside seats are being touted for £10,000. De La Hoya’s cut will be at least £15million and Mayweather will take £8million.
The pair have won 10 world titles between them but without doubt this is the best opponent either has faced.
Mayweather, 30, is 37-0 with 24 KOs. De La Hoya, 38-4, has 30 KOs and has won titles at six weights.
American Mayweather said: “Oscar has never been the best fighter in the world. How could he be? He’s got four losses. I’m undefeated.”
De La Hoya, 34, said: “Don’t be surprised if I’m faster than him.”
Liverpool star ROBBIE FOWLER’S nephew Anthony is set to be the next star in the family.
Light-welterweight Fowler fights in the ABA finals in south London today.

So now that he lost - his statement to Hatton becomes irrelevant, doesn't it?

Ok I dont think this is going to happen anytime soon. Hatton knows he was sluggish at 147 and dlh can not go down to 147 anymore. Dlh is a junior middleweight and he can not go down past that. I dont think Hatton will move up to fight the bigger, stronger, and faster fighter. Sure, money makes people do stupid things, but there is a limit and Hatton won't go past that limit.

It would have to be at a catch weight cause dlh cant make 147. 151-152...maybe. But not 147.

Well according to what i read DLH said he was willing to move down to Welterweight, but i do agree that i don't think DLH could make 147 anymore but we will see.
