I think this is ging to be specail

heres an article did on it

How do you see it going?

Numero Uno

This Saturday, as I’m sure you are all aware come backing Pound For Pound King Floyd Mayweather Jr tackles the great Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez in a battle for pound for pound supremacy.

This is for me the fight I have looked forward to most this year. Now I normally analyse the boxers in an in depth technical way but for some reason I just got a feeling on this fight.

Juan Manuel Marquez is the great Mexican technician, textbook skills nothing fancy but great at what he does. He’s up against it all in Floyd Mayweather who has everything on Marquez but one thing. The heart, the indomitable will to win, Marquez will try everything to win. Juan Manuel is a special fighter one that comes along every so often but when they do come along the results are spectacular. Marquez will produce something special on Saturday night he has that with in him. Roberto Duran has tipped Marquez to win. This fight, to me, will harkens back to the night Duran beat Leonard. Marquez has it within his fiery soul to do that. Marquez also I believe has a grudge factor on Mayweather he seems to have wanted him since the 2nd fight with Pacquiao and maybe his destiny is to beat Mayweather like Duran was meant to beat Leonard.

Mayweather is a marvel. So far the best boxer of the decade. His skills are simply phenomenal up there with the likes of Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns and Jose Napoles. A gifted counterpuncher with a knack for defence, entrusted by god with the gift of super quick hands which back a punch. Analysing the fight I see no way in which Floyd can lose this fight. Floyd is near unbeatable in fact so far he is unbeatable but he’s facing the guy who does not lose easy. Mayweather is going to be tested like no other fight before.

The stage is set for ultimately the crowning of the Pound for Pound king, whether it’s a renewal of vows or a new coronation, we will find out.

Right now I got my sentimental bull shit out of the way here’s how I see the fight going.

Mayweather wins the early rounds behind his fast hands and sharp defence. Marquez is often vulnerable early and takes a few rounds to figure out his opponent and adjust. Mayweather takes advantage here but his habit to not go for the kill early can cost him here. If he can get on Marquez early he can force a stoppage or a KO but I don’t see it happening.

Once Marquez has adjusted and realised he’s losing deep down in side of him a spirit is evoked he will fight out of his skin. Expect fast counter shots and lots of body work. A clever cunning fight much like Duran vs Leonard y being 2 steps ahead of Mayweather.

The late rounds are what separates them. We all know Marquez will come on strong here and its up to Mayweather to rise to it and show to the world that he can mix it, he can tough it out. But can he do it?

I’ll leave that for you to decide.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! Mayrunner is a bore and a jive-turkey and Juan M. Marquez is outta his element at 144 to 147 pounds........ Mayrunner glides his way to a snoozing 12 round decision over a slowed Marquez who has trouble cutting off the ring and scoring punches............ No big thrill here........

Mayweather will win. Marquez was dropped heavily by Barrera and Pacquaio. I don't think he'll take Mayweather's punches at WW down the stretch.

Marquez is going to win. Maybe. Probably not. But he could. Probably. Or not? All I know is, I just made a dynamite soft taco a few minutes ago.

I think there's a small chance that Marquez's shift in gears throughout the fight will see him pull off a close decision.

HOWEVER; I feel a few cagey rounds at the beginning will force JMM on the attack around the fifth, and he will have some success in scoring but not in hurting Floyd or elicting anything other than a smile and a 'bring it' from May.

Around the 7th or 8th Floyd will start timing Marquez and Beristein will pull him out before the 11th, or Floyd will stop him. Despite starting at 130 Floyd is considerably bigger than Marquez, and whilst he doesn't have the P4P power of Pacman, he has significant snap and accuracy in his punches.

Significant enough to stop even a battle-hardened Warrior with excellent powers of recovery like Marquez.

I'm rooting for Marquez 110%, as not only a big fan and admirer of his skills but because the deck is stacked heavily against him.

One thing for sure, it's going to be intriguing, Let's not forget that Marquez is desperate for a shot at Pac. Floyd vs Pac or Marquez vs Pac 3 will be great either way, but Marquez vs Cotto doesn't whet the appetite as much. I think Cotto (at Welter anyway) would blow Marquez away.

Good article Greg, it's gonna' be a good one mate :good

At first I felt this fight was going to be one sided in favour of Mayweather but I have reconsidered.

I feel this fight can go either way. Mayweather has the reach and speed to box most opponents without having to suffer significant damage in return.

However, Marquez is a special fighter. He fights every minute of every round. He doesnt tire and he will never give up. He is an intelligent boxer and can adjust during combat.

I feel this fight will be a lot closer than people think and I wouldnt be surprised if Mayweather gets a controversial decision (due to the potential mega fight aganst Pacquiao)

The closer it gets to fight night, the better I rate JMM's chances. I hear a lot about Floyd stopping Marquez (as it's clear that Marquez is dropable), but personally I think Pac hits harder than Floyd (even @ 147) so I know Marquez can take the punches. My only worry here is that if Floyd wins the early rounds and JMM gets desperate, he'll make himself hitable.

Floyd has the speed so JMM has to be laser accurate with his punches and his timing needs to be impeccable. One of the key factors here is just how good is FMJ?? It's easy to watch him and see his vast talent, but when you break down his record, this version of JMM is the BEST fighter he has ever faced (granted outside his comfortable weight). Someone once said to me that Floyd is only a couple of defeats away from being Tito Trinidad...and whilst the vast difference in skill levels between the 2 is plain to see, I can see his point.

I'll also factor in that this is really do or die for JMM. He's no longer a young guy and has never really had the mainstream appeal that his considerable talent and heart to win deserve. If he wins he'll get his recognition, as well as his long awaited 3rd fight with Pac (I have them at 1-1 so for me this would be the decider).

On the other hand it's tough to see JMM doing anything that's really going to give FMJ a problem...particularly if the extra weight slows him down. I hope that JMM doesn't try to just walk Floyd down as I really feel that this will play into Floyds hands. He has to pick his spots and forget about the entertainment factor.

I'll be wearing my sombrero and cheering for Marquez, but fate seems to be leading to a FMJ Vs Pac fight that will go down as one of the biggest in history!!!

I say 8-4 Floyd with a KD each way (with the one on Floyd being more of a slip).

If Marquez is at his best, he'll account well for himself defensively, but will come up short against the naturally bigger man, much to my displeasure. I'm sure that it'll eventually be up to the man himself, Pacman, to be the ultimate test for Mayweather, of course should he get past Cotto, and after Pac's last two or three bouts, I'll never bet against him.

Mayweather is very smart. Almost no one is commenting on the fact Marquez is 36 years old, ancient for a lighter weight fighter. Another year and he could have fought Marciano (LOL) ... joke guys ...

After seeing the brief footage in 24/7 I am 99.9% sure that the original postponement was for Mayweather to have more time to prepare and get his timing back. I think Floyd will be too strong and win a comfortable decision.

I've seen his age being mentioned many times. But I do agree it gets overshadowed by the fact that he's the smaller fighter (Aka light weight). It's an important comment... I think Marquez looked fair at best in his last fight against Diaz.

And yes, I clicked view post.

If there is some justice left in this earth, JMM should win ....

But, let's face it: Gayweather has the upper hand here

I truly, truly, truly hope I am wrong and JMM will pull an upset

With all the upsets the past year or so I'm amazed so many people think this would really be THAT much of an upset.

Moving up in weight isn't as difficult as it once was, even less so when you're already a world class talent. Pacquiao has proven that in his last few fights.

And the size difference...? People are aware that Hatton walks around 50 plus pounds above where he fights, yes?

Marquez is a skilled dude with a lot of heart, he might make the fight interesting. Who knows, I'll cross my fingers though.

everything tells me that Floyd has the speed and size but if Marquez really wants this fight and fights smartly he could score an upset....It is a question of intangables...at 36 he must use all his experience and be aggresive but do not chase Floyd...fight in and out and let Floyd come to him and then flurie sporatically and then out and in...do not let Floyd get his rythym......thats his chance...but if he lets Floyd get comfi and gets into a chase...Floyd will pick him apart

The keys to this fight will be defense, speed, footwork and timing. Yep I see FMJ dominating, and Mayweather's combinations may be back for this 1. Size isn't that big a deal as FMJ is blown up a little at 147 himself just as JMM will be but he's a little bigger and there highest fight night weights are 8lbs apart, on fight night they'll be 2lbs weight difference as JMM is bulking up a little

Marquez has a good shot here - I still favour Floyd tho - I dont see any situation were a 2 year hiatus can actually help you.... I have a feeling that JMM might upset a few plans & future big fights here but thats my gut, I`ll stick with my head & say FMJ by decision in a lively fight.

I dont understand why anyone isnt looking forward to this fight, wtf is wrong with you people ?... seriously.

2 elites doing battle is ALWAYS good news, no matter the circumstances.

Mayweather wins by late stoppage after frustrating a focused Marquez for most of the fight. Marquez tries his hardest but losses sadly as I'd love to see him win.

LOL. Really, if he gets blown out hes certainly going to have to rethink that tradition. If he wins, who knows it might become a new fad.:yep
