ANTHONY CROLLA has severed his ties with Frank ****** and will now box under the Hatton Promotions banner. The 22-year-old boxer fights on the undercard of Matthew Macklin’s vacant European title showdown with Amin Asikainen at the Velodrome, Manchester on September the 25th.

Anthony has also decided to alter his training regime, joining up with Joe Gallagher and Kerry Kayes’ at their Denton-based gym; the split with ****** meant that Anthony could no longer work with his previous trainer Anthony "Arnie" Farnell – who works exclusively with ******-promoted boxers.

“It is down to the promotional thing,” explained Crolla. “I’m not a sellout. I mostly dealt with Dean Powell and we always had a good relationship. I can’t speak highly enough of Arnie – he is my mate. I speak to him on the phone every day. Joe is a very good coach and was recommended by Arnie. He has done great work with John and Joe Murray.”

Maybe but we'll have to see how Hatton goes as its still early days for him. He doesn't have the TV rights that ****** will ultimately get so we'll have to wait and see. I hope the lad does well. He's a nice lad who always took the time out to come and speak to me at the gym and ask how I was etc etc. Shame but I wonder what caused this as if anyone could get him big shots it would have been ****** surely ?

maybe Crolla could do with a change if only to shake things up a little.

If you read the whole article it says Hatton has 8 Sky dates. They've got two 'booked' already (Macklin-Asikainen and Matt Hatton-Ndou).

Gallagher does seem to be a good trainer, he's got a good (growing) stable so maybe he can help Crolla reach that next level.

Yeah shut up Ish..... Just read it all
And a Matthew Hatton Fight does not constitute as a 'date'

Hatton promotions are proving me wrong. They are becoming a promotional force IMO.

Crolla is very similer to Macklin. And Joe is a very good trainer. That said i'd imagine the move would have been more to do with Arnies connection with ****** then any problems with the coaching.

Ishy so what. Calzaghe fought for a title - AND WON

Seriously though I fail to see how Matthew Hatton could have any fans outside of his own family !!! It broke my heart watching him lording it up next to Ali like that.

You don't think Dan might have read the thread title and jumped right in without reading your post do you?;)

Hatton promotions are proving me wrong. They are becoming a promotional force IMO.

You're not the only one, it appeared for quite some time as if they were just going to be a small time outfit. But now they're starting to pick up quite a lot of good fighters, both prospects and established fighters and they also have themselves some tv dates with Sky.

Getting Sky on board was key for Hatton Promotions, without that I doubt they'd have been able to sign so many of these fighters.

Just look at the left hand side column of the Macklin v Asikainen bill, plenty of very good fighters there. I don't know if they're all contracted to Hatton or not but still.

Macklin v Asikainen-European title(that's a great headliner)
Danny Butler v Darren McDermott-English title(not a bad main undercard fight)
Marc Thompson v TBA
Martin Murray v TBA
Joe Murray v TBA
Denton Vassell
Scott Quigg v TBA
Rhys Roberts v TBA
Anthony Crolla v TBA
Graeme Higginson v TBA

The only problem I have with that is the amount of TBA's less than 3 weeks before the fight, but the quality of home fighter is ver very good.

They've also had the likes of Craig Watson, Andy Morris, Tony Oakey, Gary Buckland,Boris Georgiev(Bulgarian amateur star), Michael Brodie(even if he is shot he's a great ticket-seller) and of course Ricky's brother Matthew on the home side of previous bills.

Just want to wish Crolla all the best, he has gone to a good gym. Im sure that he will be British champion within 18 months.
I will be at the velodrome with all the lads from the gym cheering him on. So if your online Ant don't forget to pop in the gym with tickets.

Crolla got hype a few years ago but always looked mediocre in fights. Hopefully this move brings him up a gear and gets him fighting for domestic titles in the near future.

I love Crolla and he's a top man, A really good friend, The only reason he left is cos Crolla left Frank and Arnie won't work with other promoters!!

Simple as that!! Crolla will do well were ever he goes cos he's a good fighter!! and a super dedicated athlete!! he misses us and we miss him but he had to do what he had to do.. Im gutted by the whole incident but understand it too..
