An example of this would be Mickey Ward vs Shea Neary.
Neither fighter is world class, but despite both fighters lack of world class talent one of them is still largely outclassed. Maybe one of the fighter was over hyped, maybe one was simply trickier/more game/more experienced.
But for whatever reason there was a very serious ass kicking on par with some of the best ass kickings out there
In the Neary/Ward match Neary decided to go to war with Ward. Maybe he didn't know any other way to fight, maybe it was because they were fighting in Neary's backyard. For whatever reason he did so, he had the absolute shit beaten out of him.

Another good one is Tim Anderson vs ex football player Mark Gastineau.
Gastineau was a roided up hype job with one of the biggest scumbags in boxing behind him. Several fighters that he fought admitted to taking dives, including ex-wrestler "Derrick Dukes". 60 Minutes did an entire piece of this.
Tim Anderson weighed under 200 pounds often during his heavyweight exploits, and was actually a LHW at the beginning of his career.
Despite being overweight (but still 45 pounds lighter then Gastineau) he beat the ever loving shit out of Mark. This dashed Gastineau's promoters hope of having his undefeated fighter gaining a match with Foreman. Foreman's team team had said "Amass a undefeated record of such and such and you'll have yourself a match". It would have ended in a multi-million dollar fight payday similar to what another ex-football player, the 90's Jimmy Ellis, managed.
Anderson put an end to that, however.
What others are there?
