It is over 4 months since Paq decked Hatton, why has Hatton not announced his retirement. He clearly has retired judging by his triple chin, sure he has opened a Gym, but he sure has not used it, so why not announce he has retired and face up to reality?

The longer it takes to make a decision, I'm afraid the more likely it is he'll fight on. Idiotically.

It must be a hard decision for him. Obviously the longer he leaves it the worse decision it will be if he comes back and gets his ass handed to him by someone lesser than him. He's made some good money and there's no shame in losing to Mayweather and Paquiao. He really should retire, his punch resistance is gone.
Hard for him to face and decide upon though as he's done nothing but box his whole adult life.

Someone who actually cares about him should show him an interview of Riddick Bowe speaking.....
Not Paul 'The Stooge' Speak, someone like Billy Graham or Kerry Kayes, or his parents.

If he keeps fighting this will be his destiny......
Theres only so long you can use your chin as a defence

He hasn't always been chin first though..... his ego took over after the Tszyu fight, and in retrospect, it ruined him.
IMO there are a lot of parallels to be drawn between the two.
Both had padded records before beating a great fighter to top their division, both had battles with the bulge, both lost to the best fighter they faced.... both were chin first in defence!

True he hasn't always been face first in everything. Only trouble is he has been like that against the top opposition he's faced. He got away with it most of the time but it caught up with him.

But he has been down to the gym, you know the boxing gym?
In all seriousness though I think it's time to retire, don't think he's shot physically but I have a feeling he may be mentally shot.

Lacking balls is definitely the wrong term, lacking intelligence is more apt.

Yeah he lacks balls. That's why he fought two P4P kings.

It doesn't take balls to do that. You, me and everyone else on this forum would gladly take some bombs off Floyd or Pacman for a shitload of cash now wouldn't we. It takes more courage to know when you are done and walk away but i'm sure Ricky won't because him and his dad love the cash. He will fight on against a tomato can before his football followers in the UK for several million then take a final fight against someone like Khan for more money and probably lose again.

Yes, it does. Hatton could have made plenty of cash fighting bums, overrated or over-the-hill fighters. It takes balls to fight two P4P kings, and I seriously doubt money was the primary reason for him taking those fights.

Yes he would have made cash fighting bums but he would have earned 5 to 10 times the cash fighting Floyd or Pacman. That did not take balls mate. It would take balls for Hatton to have taken on someone who was a serious threat but not marketable and not well known.

I was thinking something the same mate .It must be mentally hard coming back from a devastating brutal ko like that.

His trajectory is downwards, lots of his ambitions have been realised (and others conclusively ended), his camp has now fractured and the men who helped make him are gone... definitely time to hang em up and focus on life after fighting.

with the weight hes put on do u honestly see him having any serious fights, if he fights at welter theres a very good possibility he'll be KO'd depending upon whos put in front of him if he goes back down to LW he may have to kill himself to make the weight.

Nope, just morals.
I went watch 'an evening with Ricky Hatton' a couple of weeks ago and from how he was speaking he isn't going fight again he is just enjoying his time off. You never know though when he starts getting bored no doubt he'll fight again.
To the clown who said he has no balls, I'll put money on you've never boxed in your life.

Thats fine, but anounce you have retired, like Calzaghe has done.
What are Hattons real options, the way I look at it, he has only one more big pay day left and thats in Manchester fighting Khan. I cant see any route open to him for making big money in USA.
So he fights Khan and with Hattons punch resitance, now, I can actually see Khan knocking Hatton out as well.
Which ever way I look there is not a good option left for Hatton apart from retirement.
