This is on early hours of Saturday morning at 2am. I might have to get my ESPN subscription now, sit up on Friday night for this one to get myself acclimatised for the following night/morning Mayweather card:thumbsup

*One more thing, I signed up to ESPN's 'newsletter' for updates on their sports coverage and clearly stated that boxing is my favourite sport, but the bastards didnt even have the decency to send me this update on their boxing coverage.

------------------------------
Live: Friday Night Fights

Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux takes on 71-fight veteran Giovanni Andrade from Brazil for a regional WBA super bantamweight title.

Yep I noticed that myself.

I read elsewhere that a status update on Carl Froch's twitter account (if it is infact his official twitter account) that he was doing a photo shoot for ESPN UK?? I would like to believe that ESPN have got their finger out and are going to show the super six??

Doubt that.

They only seem to think we're interested in football. Which is why they broadcast matches from Serie B.

I saw Rigondeaux fighting at Planet Hollywood in Vegas, looks awesome, great amateur career, can't wait to see him step up but he isn't very young.

 That's true actually. Serie A is bad enough. Also, the amount of baseball thats on ESPN is incredible!! I'm sure it's about 2 different live matches a night or something! Is US Baseball that popular in the UK?

Ah well, a live fight on ESPN UK is a start. Hopefully plenty will tune in or sky+ it.

Totally agree. Can't believe people are getting so excited about a Friday Night Fights show live.

They had the opportunity to show Woods v Cloud live, and passed it up.

Didn't the secondsout deal put a stop to them showing it live?

Well yes, but ESPN had the opportunity that they could have brought the rights in the first place, before secondsout purchased them but didn't.

So secondsout had the rights for pittance.

I thought ESPN's season of FNFs had just finished anyway?:huh I must be mistaken. Anyway, this is brilliant news- let's hope it's the start of a solid commitment to live boxing.

^ losfer this is a one off card for some sort of latino celebration, espn fnf season finish after the clinton/cloud bailey/urango bill. no FNF until jan or even feb 010.

I thought so. Like I said, when I saw this thread I thought 'I swear the season ended'. Ah well, I shall still watch it and it is a positive step:happy.

As for the vid, I knew you'd like it:good. Brilliant rant:rofl.

I wish ESPN would issue a statement about their intentions regarding live boxing coverage. I was thinking about subscribing as I would like to see the Roach's Cuban prospect on Friday night, but not if it is only a one-off live bout....

I agree. They should either come out and say they plan to have live fights in the next calender or say that boxing is not high on the agenda and only the odd fight will be shown.

I can only think that they are still testing out the UK market?

Maybe they plan to put the odd fight on to see how well its recieved and how much interest is out there. The only problem in doing this is that it's highly unlikely that even the biggest boxing fan will start a month by month subscription, to watch a low key fight, in the 'hope' that more live fights follow?

I've already subsribed, but I'm already fed up of live volleyball and endless baseball matches

ESPN do need to clear this all up in all seriousness though.

I didn't say that though. Basically it would've been part of their deal (and in the contract) with SecondOut that they didn't show it live, or in fact the next day.

So is the Rigondeux fight on tonight then?
