the thing is sauerland know there market quite well;there experienced propmoters and if they thought that if haye could sell more they would have picked a bigger venue ...and they have gone for a modest 10 thousand seater venue

Only the Klits can sell 30,000+ in Germany.

Do they ever have motor racing in Nuremberg?

Anyone know?

LOL. 10,000 is now considered minor. In America, you sell out 10 to 15 thousand and you are quite big business.

Metallica and Iron Maiden can sell 100,000 plus:deal:good. That's neither here or there on a boxing forum, though:lol:. This is a dissapointment, IMO. I'd much rather they went back to Finland and gave the fans what they missed out on before or set up the fight somewhere else in Europe. Now, if it goes to points (which I expect), Haye might be fucked:?.

Formula1 races took or take place at the Nürburgring which doesn't have anything to do with Nürnberg.

The fight won't be sold out unless 3,000 or 4,000 Brits will fly to Germany.

10 000 is a decent size in these economically hard times

I still can't picture these two in the ring together though; the odd couple.

well when you consider his last fight, sold over sixty thousand and people were saying that it was due to haye, not to the fact that the klit's are quite popular in Germany ,its quite a comedown a wee bit imho.

but good luck to haye ...

only a fool would think that either klit single handily did that. they are popular but they were fighting people that didn't interest the public. when haye whipped up a storm they started lining the streets to see the big mouth get shut up. haye was appearing on german tv saying he is gonna whoop them, he got in wlads face, he wore the t-shirt with the ripped head. if none of that made an effect then why the klits waste their time facing someone who isn't as heavyweight proven as alot of boxers. haye made business sense for them and that is the whole reason they BOTH wanted a piece of him.

you obv dont know your german "boxing market" .if Haye was that populer why did they not put this fight in a biger venue?surely if haye was a big star over there (due to his anticts) they could easily put this in avenue with 20/30 thousan even more.

If it was a 10,000 seater venue in England with an English fighter challenging for a HW title then I'd be very disappointed, but this is Valuev in Germany.
There will probably still be more Brits than locals in attendance.

I went to Nuremburg years ago. Nice place to look around, totally rebuilt in it's old style after WW2. Went via Heathrow>Munich if I remember right.

There was a bigger build up to the Klit fight with a bit of needle between the two of them. This seems more lowkey. Will it sell 10,000?

I don't know why they went for only a 10k stadium so you can't answer whether or not it would sell more.

Haye riled up the Klits fan. Haye got their fans to come out and watch them.

Haye isn't a big draw which is quite odd really given his exciting style and personality. He certainly isn't as popular as you'd expect him to be.The fight vs Barrett proves it,it wasn't a sellout I don't think and they had an offer on tickets. If people want to put that down to the opponent(Barrett in this case)then look at Hatton/Lazcano.It might be slightly different with Hattons football fans but there are other examples

Agreed. Just shows you the influence that Sky has on sports fans. Hattons been with them in some form since the beginning of his career hasn't he?
Hopefully Haye can achieve something similar but he'll never be perceived as a "man of the people"

Reason haye is not a draw is because he's not busy enough. 5 fights in 3 years ain't going to make anyone a star.

It ain't shit to do with Haye. Haye has proven time and time again he can't sell out. He struggled to sell out the O2 and now they've got a 10k stadium. If the demand was high they would have had a football stadium again.

The Klitschko's have a crazy following.

Yeah I went to Nuremburg during the football world cup 2006, we was based in Munich and got the train up there, if I remember rightly it was about 2 hours away from Munich on the train???

As it goes, Munich is a fantastic place for a weekend, so might be an idea for peole, although at a 10,000 venue they'll be plenty of beds in Nuremberg to cater for all, and German cities are generally good places to have a night out in.

Have got it booked already. Stansted to Munich on the Sat morning, 40 quid return on Easyjet. Express train to Nuremburg, only takes one hour. Night in the Hilton near the Arena, 65 Euros. Just waiting for the fight tickets to go on sale now. Heard from a boxing friend that Nuremburg is a great place to visit. I'm travelling alone, so if there are any other Haye fans going over, drop me a line. Could do with some drinking buddies. Cheers, Son of Bonters.

and my chances of going just shot way up.
Fuckers can't fly me to Dublin anymore but they can fly to Nuremburg ?.........

There's the obvious argument going on her between people saying what Haye, the Klitschko's etc can sell.

The truth is Haye doesn't generate a huge sell himself when he's the draw, but he's a great guy to be the home fighter against if you want to sell.

For those thinking the Klitschko's would sell 60,000 for a normal fight(or even a relatively big fight like Chagaev) get real, Haye was a major reason for the choice of such a large venue and they knew he could deliver great PR for the fight.

However Valuev is nowhere near the draw of the Klitschko's, so without the interest of one of them it doesn't matter that Haye is involved. He doesn't interest the German market on his own, only when he's against one of the big names there.

Valuev is an average name there, he's not big news(otherwise he'd have never been scheduled to fight in Finland) but he's not a no one either.
The 10,000 is about right I'd say, but it will be reliant on quite a good few Haye fans travelling over.

Actually, it's not direct it's via Amsterdam. I don't know why I didn't say that in the first place, it's a route I do at least once a month.

Indeed I do only have two posts here. Not sure what that has to do with my potential for being a violent criminal though? :-) Just to clarify, I'm not a rapist, a mentalist, or anything of that sort. I also post on BoxRec and LiveFight. Anyone familiar with those forums will be aware of Bonters, and hence also be aware of me, Son of Bonters. I'm a big Haye fan, determined to support the big man over in Germany. I went over to Gelsenkirchen in June when he was supposed to fight Wlad. Met up with quite a few fellas from LiveFight.
